New Garage

Another update for all of you. Got most of the fluorescents hung. Used T-8 bulbs. It is really bright in there-reminds me of a gymnasium.

This past weekend, since we had some good weather (had to sacrifice taking the car for a spin-I really wanted to but thats the way it goes)ran the underground pex flex from outdoor woodboiler to the building. Trenched about 140 foot, layed it down and also ran LAN/cable TV from the house. Have been working on the interior hook up for the floor heat also. Gotta get it up and running. Cold weather is HERE.

Very, very nice Kymmee, i know you cant wait to have it all done!

It is coming together nicely, I am sure you cars will really like a nice place to stay, especally when it gets cold. Congrats on the build, it looks good!:D

Lookin' real good.
That white "siding" sure makes it look bright in there - very nice.
It must feel good to be getting "close" to finished - and "just in time" for the winter.

MOVING IN DAY!!

Well Sunday we moved all the cars in. The weather has been dry and sunny which is really unusual for November. Took the TTA for a short drive before parking her in the new garage.

The heat should be up and running in about a week. I think we are in a good place now and can work on the office/cave area without so much pressure. It has been a long few months, but well worth it-I finally have my dream garage!!

Wow, the garage is exactly what you needed for all those cars! You can even get a few more now, you got plenty of room. Enjoy that garage, it sure is nice!

"funny" how it doesn't look so big once you put all those cars in... plus I think that there is some kinda "natural law" that says "stuff will expand to fill your space" - or something like that :D
Very Nice. Sounds like the heat will be "on" in time for any severe winter temperatures! Hope to see more details later.

Lookin sweet!!
Try to keep clean, every year I purge and more junk just fills up the garage.

Ps: great looking collection too!!

Next thing you know it can get "over-crowded" like:

Clockwise from the Van...
Thunderbird (1965), TTA, Sunbeam Tiger.
The GN is temporarily hanging out down in the attached garage.

I see in this picture how you hung your white metal. Looks good!! I know what you mean about over crowding. We are really trying to keep everything "open". Havent put anything else in there yet. Have a shelving unit similar to yours for some wheels and parts. I am parking my DD in there also. Some space will be freed up when we get a lift. My hubby and son and I are all on the same page about keeping it clutter free. We have other buildings for "stuff" so trying to stick to the plan.

I have a lot of silly comments... thank goodness for the "smilies" :D. Hopefully all is taken in stride.

I did the ceiling with the white steel mostly to hold up the insulation, don't have the $$ or the time to do the walls [yet]. I have a little bit done (with scraps) but doesn't show in that photo.
We actually have 4 more cars now vs. when the barn [building] was finished in 2006, thus leading to the crowding now. The van and my Expy have to "trade off" spots between the attached garage and the barn since I only have 1 "oversized" door out of the 3 on the garage. A "lift" for the barn is on my "wish list" as previously noted. I try to keep the clutter to a minimum, but it is tough.
Good luck with your finishing up! Once all the kids are out it should get a little easier...

Its good to be silly-esp this time of year-everyone seems so stressed. :):):)

I have to agree with you about having more cars. For me it is definately an addiction and the parts hoarding is too. I am going to try very hard to minimize the clutter. On my list (prob in spring) is to list for sale a bunch of parts no longer needed from cars of the past.

The heat has been up and running about 3 weeks. It is great. Radiant floor heat is so different than forced air. It does not cycle often and retains itself for quite a while. The "office" area is what we have been working on. Finally got to do a little "decorating", so that has been fun. Been working on cable, security, internet systems. Moving in my car stuff. Actually spent an evening hanging out, drinking and watching a movie. All the hard work has paid off. Still have some trim finishing and a few small things. Light at the end of the tunnel now!

Lookin' really nice. Congrats on a great "facility". That heat sounds like "the cat's meow" :) Enjoy!
(and - I'm always glad to see that I'm not the only one who keeps the cars covered while they are inside)

I found this photo from July '06... first time I put "vehicles" in my Barn after construction was complete and the floor cured. I thought that the Barn looked "huge"... little did I know then what all that was to follow

(We keep the Expy in the attached garage since it is my DD, it was just moving the trailer in this pix... I used to keep the Tiger there, too.)

Yeah Mark, I know what you mean. They all look big when empty. Problem is we fill them up too fast.

Since January is the month for "getting organized", I am trying real hard to get my parts in order. Have them scattered over the property. Gave the box stores some business and bought a bunch of totes. Been cleaning and cataloging the parts. Got about 1/3 of them done. Found stuff I forgot I had. :DontGetIt:

Looking great !!!! I knew you'd love the radiant floor heat.Just as I explained to you about mine, does not cyle as often as the reg heat wether it be forced air, baseboard, whatever.
I keep my slab at 65 deg non stop,I have another 24x24 garage that is attached to my new one with the floor heat, and that big mass of heat from the floor gets its way into the existing orig floor in that 24x24 and keeps that garage at 60 with no heat on !!!!!
Just this past Nov I added a hydronic unit heater out there also getting the hot water from my boiler,so bringing that one up to 67 is no prob.
Anyone building a new garage should def try and squeeze the rad floor heat into the budget !!!!Well worth it,your cars will love it to !!!!

A picture for everyone in the deep freeze to feel a little warmer. This winter has been a true test for the Central Boiler. It is heating approx 2000 sq ft garage and a 2000 sq ft home with temps below zero. Happy to report the boiler/floor heat is working well. Definately going thru the wood the last few weeks, but supply is free, just have to cut and split it ourselves. Garage is staying about 65 degrees and the house 70. Hoping for spring soon.
