same thing happened to me, it was the v.a.t.s .....(vehicle anti-theft system) which i believe is in the ignition. that little chip that we have on our keys is what the problem could be....they charged me $350 to fix it, but look on the bright side, you get a bright new set of keys.........

I'm not shure what you mean by hot wiring to get it to start. What are you bypassing? I've been chasing a starting problem and changed the VATS module as a possible solution. Not only was the module expensive, but changing it was a pain.Have you tried more than one key.How about an ohm reading at the base of the steering column where the ignition wires plug in.Make sure it matches a reading you get from your key.

i tracked the problem down to a bad wire the purple wire off the starter has a small break or a short.........jiggled the wire harness and it started....... have to do it from time to time..........

Did your car crank but not fire? When I have the problem, the car cranks, but doesn't start. I'd like to think it's a loose or broken wire. How many miles on your TTA?

Mine starts at the start of the day with no problems!
After that, it cranks, but not starts. I have to pump the gas, she fires up! Very strange! I haven't been stranded yet, but boy, do I worry about it!
I hear how people spend tons of money, replacing almost everything, and the problem remains.

Any ideas??

George
