Coke vs Water
Here are some of the benefits of drinking water and some interesting things about coke.

Water

1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. This most likely applies to half the worlds population.

2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

3. Even mild dehydration will slow down your metabolism as much as 3%.

4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.

5. Lack of water is the number 1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

Are you drinking the amount of water you should every day?

Coke

1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.

3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coke into the toilet bowl and let it sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous China.

4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of aluminium foil dipped in Coke.

5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coke over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

7. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coke will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

8. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.

9. To carry Coke syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the hazardous material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

10. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!

Drink more water!

Who is board enough or dumb enough to:

"You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days."
:eam:
Put a T-bone in my belly tonight and it'll be in the river in 2 days.

But, yes I chug water in the mornings/afternoons and then maybe 2 glasses at night.

Mythbusters did the whole "dissolve a steak with Coke" thing before and said it was busted.

But Coke will dissolve the corossion built up around and in between your battery terminals!

The True Coke when it first came out was used for many things and the newer formulas aren't as bad. Back in the days it was used for many tasks that needed good corrosion cleansing.

I gave up regular and diet soda for almost a year now. Only drink water and an occasional iced tea. It was a little tough at first but you get used to it.

I used to be all about soft drinks and energy drinks. They were about all I would drink. Then one day I decided to go vegan, cut out all soft drinks and energy drinks and microwaved food. I kept the vegan thing up for 4 months, then went vegetarian for about 6 years. Then several months ago I went back to meat, but I've left the microwaved food and soft drinks + energy drinks out. I mostly drink fruit juice now, plenty of water in that. Plus, passionfruit juice is amazing.

I also saw the Mythbusters episode about the coke myths. A lot of them were confirmed however I do remember the steak one was busted. I'm pretty sure it did work on rust but you got to scrub like hell.

GM has this goofy double positive cable design they use on most every 3800 motor. It seems to be a breeding ground for corrosion. One day my Olds wouldn't start and I walked back into the office. My boss asked if I needed a lift but I just asked if we had any Coke. "Coke? What are you going to do with that?" "Start my car," was my response. "OK, see you in a few," he said. A little splash of Coke over the positive terminal and I was good to go. I'll never forget the look on his face as I waved goodbye! :bye1:

How do you feel now that you've went back to meat? I couldn't leave the protein out of my diet. I could do the Atkins diet easier than the all veg.

I completely cutout carbonated drinks and sweet tea about a month ago. Before that, I was drinking coke once a week and sweet tea daily. Also, no more juices as they are stacked with sugar.

Been on a pretty challenging diet for the last 2 weeks in hopes of getting to 6.5-7% BF before summer...I get tested Friday so we shall see!

I can never imagine cutting out meat and going vegetarian! That would be tough for me...

I never felt any different, not when I cut everything out of my diet or when I went back to meat. I also didn't notice any weight gain going back, which suprised me. I'm still stuck at 114lbs.

I hope you're pretty short if you're at 114lbs.

I quit drinking any carbonated beverage a couple of years ago. I probably have on average one a week between mixed drinks and if I'm out somewhere and feel like getting a sprite. I stick to the good stuff - milk, water, juice, and beer. I never could go vegetarian, and I especially couldn't do vegan.

I miss sweet tea. Can't get that in Colorado.

There's nothing quite like sweet tea in the southeast...

Really isn't...although you could always make your own.

Sweet Tea

Boil 1.5 quarts of water in a pot with a lid so the water doesn’t evaporate. Once it comes to a boil, turn the stove off and add two family size tea bags. Put the lid back on and let it sit for at least an hour. After an hour, pour the hot tea into a pitcher and add 1 cup of sugar while stirring. Then fill up the pitcher to the full two quarts. You can add water or ice to achieve this.

I'm 5'9", just very underweight. (Despite having the tendency to gorge on fried chicken, burgers, steaks, cake, ice cream, etc.) I do think I'm healthier without the soft drinks, though they apparently aren't AS unhealthy as I used to think. It's good to take a calcium suppliment daily if you drink them, though.

I can remember when I was 114...it was like it was yesterday. Well, maybe not exactly yesterday. Probably around the time I was in 4th grade or so. I proabably even had a shoe size in the single digits back then!

Yeah I'm 5'10" and very skinny at 145 I couldn't imagine weighing less. I can eat whatever I want and I can't really gain any weight.

Haha yeah, I was probably in 5th maybe 6th grade.

I remember being less than 110. 9th grade for me.

Now I'm 5'10 175ish. Pretty cool how you can manipulate your body to do what you want it to do. All it takes is mental strength!

I have a couple vegitarian acquaintance(s) and one relative and by in large they are some of the saddest people I've run across. They seem to have grasped onto this lifestyle to make a political statement and seem to live in a world of denial and angst.

I don't challenge thier choice unless they challenge mine, which has happened, and when the veggie relative is in the house I'm always looking for a reason to fry up some bacon...nobody can resist that smell.

Besides none of these people ever really "looks" healthy, they look pale and emaciated.

Oh, and to Jason's original post....diet soda, generally the colas. My favorite is Pepsi ONE. Coffee is my real vice though,3-4 20oz. cups a day. But none after 8:00 PM...because I'm old and it makes get up in the night to pee.
