Hello all,
I decided I wanted smoother idle and an overall improved chip so I installed a TT chip....Great Chip!! Idle is much improved, and it seems like driveablity is also better. While I was at it I also installed a 160 stat, new hoses, and new 30lb injectors.
One thing I noted yesterday on my scanmaster was that my temp shot to 184 even with the 160 stat and both fans at full speed!! Outside temp was around 70F. I know this is not too hot, but it shouldn't climb that high over 160 should it? Is this fairly normal, or should I be concerned?

If you replaced the hoses and thermostat it might still be working out all the air pockets in the system. After a drive (yet cool enough so it doesn't spew out) remove the radiator cap and let it release all the pressure. This will help.

It took my car a few drives to get all the air worked out of the system.

On a 70 degree day my car will run from 167-162 and cycle back up and down. I would not worry about it.

...ok it's been a few days, and I've burped the system a couple of times to ensure air is out, but the temp will still go to 190 with the 160 thermostat (both fans at full speed). It shouldn't get that hot should it?

How hot was it getting stock, if it climbs to 190 now!!

My '92 TPI car goes up to 220 once in awhile if I'm whooping on it or idling in the driveway for an extended period and I don't give it a second thought. I'm running a 170 thermostat in that one and a 160 in the TTA. The TTA will run right about where Jason's runs.
