Update & Questions

It looks like it has a external wastegate and a 3" downpipe. I bet someone was trying to get it ready for racing or was getting it ready for racing. I notice when the original post on e-bay said it had a trans-brake, well you don't need that for the street but more for racing.

Too bad you don't know the history of the car or know more about the mods.

Well the turbo looks like it has the stock bell on it. Does is have Garrett stamped on it?

I also saw that your turbo shield had been cut, probably due to the 3in downpipe and the external wastegate.

At this point you wonder what else has been done to the engine.

As far as the chip goes, it don't look like a Turbotweak chip.

It would be great to speak to the one that did the mods!!!

Hey Mike, yes says Garrett, and he said he'll send me all the paper work on the engine, cleaning the car today I found in the back a valve stem, looks like air shocks in the back.
 
I have the exact same chip, somewhat older technology, but still quite functional. As for the hood insulator, there are some nice aftermarket selections that you can customize.

It probably has the stock turbo or someone put the stock one on there after having another turbo on there.

Just curious, how is the trans. and how does it shift?

I only drove it about 15 miles from drop off to my house, it throws you in every gear. Def has a shift kit, but he did say it was shipped to CA to be built and it shifts hard.

DP is a definite keeper! You might pick up a little false knock. You are lucky to get a TTA with a 3" DP. They are around $8-900 dollars if you were to buy new... Only 1 guy makes that I know of.

Chip, for sure, go Turbo Tweak.

For the rear seat ... I suspect it's the following you are missing (check on the other side to make sure):

REAR SEAT HINGE LH 1983 - 2002 CAMARO FIREBIRD USED | eBay

And the bolt ...

However don't buy from this guy on ebay he got a bad reputation apparently (and is over priced) ...

Verify those are the parts missing (+ a nut) and use the pictures to find them .. I remember seeing a pair with everything on ebay for much less than what this guy is asking for just the one part).
 
CHIP; RED ARMSTRONG maybe? left rear seat clip? yes i have one,stock turbo?; maybe need some #s, looks like a a-tech external wastegate need some #s, downpipe? most were custom made (Jim Dunn, Terry Houston ..ect. biggest question is what are your plans for the car? Street/strip or combo or return to stock? work with what you have or up-grade?
 
Classic Industries has TTA Hood Insulator for $32.52 shipped last I checked. Then you need to buy the fasteners.

There is a sticky at the top of the tips/tech support thread. I started the link so just look for my username.

Sounds good thanks Joe. That DP is as much as my suspension and brakes I'm putting on, :crazy:

I will check tomorrow but I recall those are the parts when I took apart my 89 GTA, wish I kept some parts. Thanks Jan!

Joe, It is a good insulator for the money, I have had mine for almost 2 yrs and it still looks new. Cheap, and spend your money on some other things.

Tial WG, street/strip, want a crusier. Ordering whole brake system and struts and shocks next week.
 
I would just like to add to get a hood insulator soon. Your exhaust housing on your turbo gets very hot and can discolor your hood due to the heat.

Yes sir, I'm not driving it, just letting it run, hood open to go through the old gas car has been sitting for 10 years, filled it with 93 about 6-7 gallons she was running really bad but starting to clear up now.

Nice to see you are adding new parts to your Turbo TA.

These cars are a blast to drive.

nice pics of taking it apart i need speakers an already have a set of inner sail pannels ... lookin good so far
 
Thanks tta299, car needs a new speedo, the reset knob is broke and the miles dont work figure I replace the whole thing, anybody know where I can get one, fairly cheap and is it possible to reset the the miles to 0? Since the engine has only 150 miles and the whole car will be redone.
