TTA VIN's

Thanks for the info. I have #1379. Finally got to find out which car # I have since PHS is not giving out the info anymore.

Chris

Tony,

I wouldn't fret about the subframe connectors. When I first bought my car I didn't want to change anything that couldn't be brought back to absolutely stock. Later on I came to the realization that the SFC would help keep the car straight (or straighter) for the rest of its life. I had some South Side Machine SFC installed, welded in. If someone really wants them out they can feel free to grind away. If you want to drive the car, leave 'em be. Just my $.02.

Thank you Ron. I'm very appreciative of all the responses I've got. Can't wait to see the car tomorrow!

#830 VIN # 1G5FW2173KL242970 Thanks,AJ

I will try and get the vins off of my buddies who also own a few TTA's.

I looked at the TTA today and it's hard to say if it's a 75 or a 76 behind where the plate goes. It looks more like 76 to me but has anyone claimed either number yet?
There's a plaque on the radiator support with the numbers 07 0556 does that mean anything? The build date on the door sticker is 12/88 if that helps place it in the run. I have some other questions but I'll try to find the appropriate forum to post them in. I haven't bought the car yet we're still haggling the price right now!

I have talked with Jay Leno quite a few times, and he said he never had a Trans Am.
Or a Grand National (I asked him this, as I read a story on him driving a GN against Tim Allen in a Mustang).
I did hear that Tony Curtis was big into Trans Ams, but never met him.

:beach:

Tony Curtis was on my Aircraft B-767 several years ago. It was his 80th birthday that day. He does like Trans Ams, owned a couple over the years and he served in the US Navy as a signalman; name....Bernard Schwartz.

Chris,

No worry, PHS never had totally accurate TTA info in the first place. Only PAS kept accurate records as they were the Manufacturer of Origin. Hence the "5" in our Vin#. Not to mention the window sticker. PHS made money on minimal data, with minimal accuracy.

well considering that PHS is the only source that we currently have for everyone to be able to base their car number off of it's going to be the most accurate source the community has. If you'd like to share the PAS numbers that you have feel free to help us out, or send me a copy and I would be more than willing to help everyone out.

Jared,

I do offer a very complete package of information on each of the TTA Production Vehicles. It is most importantly accurate and does require significant time to research the records and find everything available for a particular VIN. You may PM me to arrange for research to be conducted on your vehicle.

Regards,

Rich

we've gone over this before, I have no interest in spending $500 for copies of the information that you have. It would be nice if you were like the rest of us who openly share any information that we have with the community at either the cost to us or even free but I doubt that will ever happen.

Hey I just bought TTA #227285 and according to PHS it's build #82. It also has Indy #75 where the rear license plate goes. Figured we could update the list with the info.

Jared,

I paid a considerable amount of money for this very special documentation. I more than willing to share anything and everything about a respective owner's TTA. I'm simply simply trying to recoup some of the funds that were expended. Again, it does take quite a bit of time to dig out all the information from the records. It may serve you well to give me a call if you are in the Atlanta area, so you may personally view my efforts to preserve the build history of these unique TTA's. You are always welcome, it may brighten your perspective.

Best regards,

Rich

For anybody that wants it, here's what I've collected over the years. I can't take credit for all of it. I wish I could remember the name of the person that started this list. Its just been so long since it was started that my memory is gone, along with all the emails from that computer. Anyway, here it is. I would love to see it grow and become complete.

Some VIN's are missing the complete 17 numbers because the "check digit" wasn't figured out. I never did the math to do it.

Thanks,
Rob

I know i helped out on that list back in 99 or 2000 when i first purchased my 340 TTA, once i was hooked on the TTA's, i asked Chris Rowe on tb.com to start a TTA section and look how that site has grown over the years.

I too would like to see the list complete with current owners attached, that would make me feel better that everyone here is working together to get it done...

Has the list been updated since you posted?
