TTA Vert Spotted in Frankfort IL

OK, I have not pics of it to prove it, but went to my favorite cruise night with my little buddy last night in Frankfort, IL with BADCARR. This show starts at 4 but if you want a good spot in the square you have to be there before 3. We got there at 3 and got a great spot in the square. My little buddy helped me and we had the car prepped in 10 minutes. We then love to take a walk around and see what everyone else brought to the cruise night. I mentioned to her, dang...there are a lot of Corvette's here tonight...and I soon found out why..dahhhhh it was Corvette night....which makes since since Bloomington Gold was in St Charles this weekend. So we brought the wrong car, but still love showing our TTA.

So we stayed 2 hours and went home for dinner. It was a rare and simply awesome summer night, so I talked my wife into going for a cruise and checking out the Corvette Cruise night. We were almost there and coming right at us was a White, TTA...Convertible.... the only way I could tell was the emblems and the white screaming chicken on it. And when I got back to the show, my buddy who was there the whole time, talked to him and he said it was 1-3 made and had less than 100 miles on it. Dang, I missed some photo ops. I met this guy at our town show last year with a rare early 80's vert,1 of 1, and he was telling me about his Vert TTA cause he liked mine and said it had only 28 miles on it and had trouble with the Turbo, sounded kind of shady to me....but we all have the car show stories like that.... So I was gone 2.5 hours and missed the elusive TTA Vert. I do believe it is a Vert TTA, but I think it was converted to one here locally cause we all have seen the pics from the place in Homer Glen that did one. I will find him this summer and get some pics. Either way, it is an awesome car, original or converted.

Ok, here are some pics from the show last night. My favorite and crowd favorite of the night was the Fisker Carma...WOW...it is a 4 door Hybrid sports car, that looks like a stretch Vette. There was as much room in the back as in the front. 22" wheels all around. The interior was so plush and looked like something out of Star Trek to operate. The top was solar panels and they power the interior accessories and AC. They are made in Denmark, and sold nationally at select dealers from $102K to $114K. 0-60 in 6.3 seconds and top speed of 125mph. Truely a super hybrid car.

Enjoy the pics!!!!! I know I did.... Favorite moment was hanging with my disco queen at the show...that is what the era she thinks the TTA is from.... next was a hot blond posing in front of my corvette and wife for pic( sorry, i missed this photo too as my jaw was on the pavement...LOL...and the creative vanity plate on the vette....

I sold that guy an 84 Autoform convertible he turned into a 84 15th anniversary convertible. A car they never made. That TTA convertible is a ASC convertible he bought and a 89 TTA he took to American Auto Restoration in Homer Glen who did the car for him, it's not an original TTA convertible. just like mine wont be when Im finished with it...and the only reason Im posting this is because he's stating it's one of the 3 original built, which it's not.

Fisker Karma-that has to be the coolest hybrid car I have ever seen. The usuals everyone knows about are ugly as sh--. Solar panels on the roof of the car are ingenious. I'm a big advocate for solar power-we have panels that power our house-average savings of 70% on electric bill for a 12 month peroid. (and we have an all electric home). Thanks for sharing the pictures-sounds like you had an interesting evening!

I spoke with that guy and he stated it was one of the 3 converts, but I have not met up with him to see for myself. He has invited me to check out his collection of ONLY TA Converts. He states he has a 69 TA Convert, 79 TA Convert, 89 TTA Convert and some others I forget. He sounds nice, but havent hooked up with him yet, but I will.

Get the VIN and we can do some research on that TTA ... only one of all 1550 were dropped shipped to ASC for conversion and the other one as we know were sent there by PAS / Jeff (pilot no 3) and those two VINs are the only two VINs in ASC's records that been converted (being TTAs) ....

Yea, it is the same guy. I met him and his wife last year in New Lenox with the 84 Autoform. It was white with light blue accents. They were both very nice and he said that one was 1-1 and that he also had the TTA vert. I am hoping he brings it to the July show, if he does I will get lots of pics and the vin too. Can't wait to see your's when it is done. They are both special cars, either way. Makes me want to turn RAYDER into a black vert. Do you have any idea of the cost associated with turning a TTA into a Vert? I should stop buy American Auto Restoration and get a quote.

Either way,
Cool to see. ;)
Love the photos, but I must say, in that last one, it doesn't look like there is room to back into, between those other two cars. ;)

Do you know if they started with two cars then ... so a ASC convertible and a TTA then just moved all the TTA specific stuff to the convertible?

Looking at the worn emblems etc I suspect that's the way they did it ... with a donor TTA car :-(

OMG, where and when did you see it? I was there yesterday and didn't see it. Thanks for getting the Vin#. Did you get any pics? How many miles on it? I heard less than 1000. How did it look?

24,000 and for the money he paid its not real nice. I'll post pics later. He's claiming the 84 15th is 1 of 1, which it's not. They never made one.
