TTA Festival Car Auction News

I was just reading through the new October 2012 issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines and saw a supposed TTA Festival Car in their "Auction Action" section that was up for bids at Carlisle in April. Just 12K miles on the odometer and the high bid only went to $14,500.....makes you wonder what the bidders were thinking??

DontKnow:

The issue is that there are only a very few amount of people who know what these cars really are. Also, there are many collectors that have low mileage TTA's laying around and they where purchased to collect and not to be driven. I have a festival car and would not take less than $25K for it and if I had some extra money laying around I would buy an extra one since they are so cool and fun to drive. :)

They weren't thinking much. This is the car I bought after the auction. It has an interesting history to go with it as a plus.
It has proven to be a very good car. No issues.
It is TTA # 78, did have an honest 12K miles on it, I now have more documentation including title & oil change reciepts to prove mileage.
It is likely Festival car #41, that is the plate that came with the car, but there is a question whether it could actually be # 137. It has been listed as #41 since 2001.
The TTA was originally owned by John Lingenfelter, now that's the kind of history you like to find out about your car.
But, for what I paid, considering how much I've paid for most of my other collectible cars over the last 20 years or so it was a bargain. $14500.00 would have been a better bargain, but I'm still happy with the deal. The economy is slow, but it will get better. The American dollar will go up wrt Canada & it's all good for collector car values. I see more & more 3rd & 4th gens at cruise nights & car shows. so the interest will continue to grow along with the value.
Lets have this conversation in a few years & see if a 12K TTA or GN can still be bought for under $25G. DontKnow:
