TTA at Auction?

Has some body damage. It will probably sell cheap at an impound auction.

I doubt that it will sell cheap just because it's at a impound auction, the guy telling you about the car in video says last three months one sold for $24,000. I went to DEA auctions and seizure auctions...the other thing thing you have to remember is the person who's car it is, usually at drug seizure auctions, sends a person there to bid on their car and buy it back. I stop going to dealer auctions because another thing you encounter 98 times out of a 100, is the dealers have other people bid up the cars. It's a joke. The guy is telling you what he thinks cars are worth, so don't you think he'll have someone bidding the car up? If you think that car will sell for a thousand or two...think again

And just a FYI at those auctions, you can look at car but not try to start it. Imagine getting that car let's say for $8000. Depending on the mileage that be a good deal. You get the car home or to your shop and start it and 1) it's knocking harder than a drug enforcement agent that was knocking on the door or 2) the engine is locked...nice $8000 paper weight( only accept $$$and ATM) NO REFUNDO
So after you figure out what's wrong with the engine with parts and labor(or your time if your fix your own stuff) you might be at say $10-$11,000. Now you ad that the car has 100,000 + miles on it and that deal at $8000 quickly starts disapating.
In my years selling cars, going to auctions, working for dealers as a salesman, remember one thing it's alot like Vegas, the house always wins.

Oh and Mike...how in the world did you find that auction in California??? I have to think you're worse than me always looking for cars and parts LOL...
Just got the heads back from Champion for the convertible TTA

It's sitting at an impound auction with body damage. It is not at Barrett Jackson. If that guy thinks he is getting anywhere near 24k he is smoking crack.

Lou I don't think I would even pay 8k for it without being able to hear it run if what you are saying is true.

It would be a gamble, but if you got it for 5k or less, you could get your money back from parting it out, but no one likes it when they get parted.

I know, but at those auctions you do not get to test drive or start car, they mention in the craigslist ad that start & runs well...so does my 93 yr old grandmother. Starts & runs well means different things to different people. Besides all that the point is the guy running auction knows what car is worth and it will bring money, I don't think anywhere near $24 but it will bring money. Dealers send buyers to those auctions too. So if you think you're bidding against the average joe blow, think again. Another thing to contemplate is how that car got there? and the goof it was taken from might have another set of keys...

I'd try and find out who the buyer was and if his trips in the car were from texas by the border to california, New York...sounds like a runners car. Especially if it was a $$$ sale. I'd stay far away from this one.
If it does sell for a lot of money, the person it was taken from most likely has someone there to buy it.

wouldn't even want to part it...for the $5000 you'd be buying a whole bunch of trouble

Only thing I noticed is a drug seizure car is taken apart, inside and fenders removed. They're not nice enough to put them back together
