Transmission converter lockup issue

The converter does not lock on my 43,000k mile TTA. I have had the wiring diagnosed it is not a wiring issue. I have someone coming to change the pan gasket this weekend since it is leaking. Easier to do it at my house since I have a lift. I have been told that the problem must be the solenoid and am thinking about replacing it while the pan is down.

The original part is no longer available, does anyone know for sure that the Kirban replacement solenoid fits the TTA? On the Kirban site it talks about this part failing and it causing it to stay locked, does anyone know if this can fail causing to to not lock like the problem I am having?
