Top of Windshield

On the top of my windshield the Indy 500 symbols and pontiac are etched into the window. Dont know if these cars came like this or not. My question is (well i guess I have two now) 1. Did they come etched or stickers? And does anybody know how to restore this to make it look freshly done?

The shouldn't be etched into the window, they were stickers from the factory. If it's as white as the paint on the car then they're stickers, it'd be grey if it was etched. If it is actually etched into the glass the only thing you could do to make it look original is replace the windshield and then decide if you want to put the factory sticker banner on it. The cars didn't come from PAS with the banner on so either way would be correct.

Take a picture of it, I wanna see what it looks like. If it's truely etched though it'll never be white.

Here is a couple more. Cant really see too much on the second picture but you can see my point of wanting it brightened.

Hmm that looks pretty cool, but like you said not bright enough. I think the only thing you can really do is either attempt to lay a decal over it (assuming it's the same size) or you'll have to replace the windshield and then put the decal on the new windshield.

Someone else said that their car had the banner etched in, what dealership did your cars come from? Maybe it was something that the dealer did or something because it's kind of weird more than one car has the same thing.

Shure its not the glue or the chemical in the glue that etched it like a garage floor before you paint it?

Seems highly unlikely for it to be etched from an idividual:eam:

Looks to me like old sticker residue from the pictures. The only thing without a new sticker would be to paint it white..

It can't be sticker residue because the Indy 500 pieces were just one big sticker on both of them and on his it has all the details.

The banner (from memory) is one sticker ( like a template) until you peel it away from the winshield. Then it becomes seperate little stickers like the doors.

I don't think painting it would be that hard. If you filled the whole area with some kind of paint and the took a razor blade and scraped off the residue on the flat part it might really look cool. That might be a better setup than any sticker if the paint sticks. Wiper won't smear it off.

I kinda like it myself.
From the distance, you can't really see it, yet get right up to it, you do see it.
You can always just put the original sticker right over it, to hide it, if you don't like it.
