Does anyone know of a source for either original or reproduction T-Top Shades and or the stotage bag for them?

Is there a storage bag for the t-top shades? I always thought they were just stored in the t-top bag with the t-tops.....

no they never made a storage bag or anything. I guess you could use the box that they came in but I think most people just kind of keep them attached to the t-tops and put them in the t-top bags with the t-tops.

I got a set of reproductions as well (bought from classsic industries but it's the same manufacturer ACME Inc) and the do look good only thing is they are not as thick as the originals so they fit a bit sloppy if you like ... but looks good and do what they are supposed to do.

I found a older guy who does custom interior's for street rods. I gave him the headliner to do from my GN. I have a set of sunshades for my GN and I never liked them. They are to flimsy. So he pulled out some material he's going to make me some new sunshades for the GN and the material looked just like the TTA tops. That heavy cardboard. He said it's water proof cardboard pretty much. I'm going to take him the TTA shades if the GN ones come out nice. He can make them just as thick as the originals so I'll keep you guys posted!

Well I just had some made for my GN from a local guy who is a older retired guy who has been doing custom interior work forever. He's done a good number of the street rods in this area. I gave him a set of NOS TTA shades I had and told him to recreate them. So these will be original matched shades. Not sure on the price. As soon as I pick them up in a week or 2 I'll let you guys know. The ones he made for my GN look just like the ones in the TTA so they should come out real nice. Hopefully the price will be under 100 bucks for them. I told him to make 2 sets and I'll try them in my TTA and make sure they are perfect for you guys. He said he can make them just like the originals.

What I'll do is have a few sets made to get a better price on the material and once I have them in hand I'll ship them out. Post in this thread if you would like a set of them. This way I know about how many I'll need made. I had a set of the repro's in my GN and they were horrible. So the one company that reproduces them I would not even bother as they are junk. Below are the ones he made for my GN.. Check these out...

Haha yeah....just like your car has cold AC. BSBSBSBSBSBSBS it was like an oven in that car. shittttttttt

I'll take a set of the TTA shades. Should be about $20-25 right? :poke:

Jason

My AC is ice cold when your in the front! :) No AC is that cold when it's over 100 out all day and the car has been cooking in that for 12 hours! Put a 1 in front of those numbers Jason for your price! :D

o ok sweet. even cheaper! $1.25.

Put me down for a set. I'll pay you sometime in the future.

Well when is AC supposed to be cold? When it is 40 outside? haha

He just called me they are all done! I'll be picking them up Thursday afternoon and I'll post some pictures with the price. If they came out anything like the GN ones they are going to be bad ass! :)

Jim, did you pick them up? Pictures pictures and more pictures :-) And of course price :toot:

I might have some special requests I need help with Jim, I'll drop you a line in a week or two and see if your guy can help me out :bye1:

Glad you brought this back up top Jan I've been meaning to post! Here is the deal... I had him make one set. The color wasn't a dead match as you can see in the pics below, but it's close and when installed you can't tell. He has access to another brand of headliner material he ordered for me and he thinks the color match will be much closer so were going to try that. I had him make 4 more sets in this next batch. They are a bit pricey for me to get a bunch made at once and I don't want to sit on any so most will be made as you guys want/need them! They are the PERFECT fit! I tried them on my TTA and it was perfect just like the oem ones.

They are the same thickness and size as the oem ones. These are as good of a quality if not better then the OEM ones as well. He used a tan vinyl material on top of waterproof cardboard like used on the factory ones to give them a much more finished professional look. I'm sure they won't absorb as much heat from the sun and destroy the foam in the headliner material like the oem ones do. The price will be about $150 a set. I'm trying to get him down a bit on the price but the material and quality is far better then any others I've seen out there. I let him destroy a set I picked up that did not fit properly and the colors were way off on those. Well here are the pics and let me know who wants a set. I think most of the ones coming back on this next batch are spoken for but I'll order more off him when I pick them up in a week or so. I'll also post how the new headliner material he's getting looks.

It's really hard to show the difference in the color because of the flash. The ones on the bottom are the OEM ones. The ones on the top are the ones I had made..

I should have taken a shot with them in the car to see the difference in color with the other headliner material. The next set I'll take more pics and take some with them in the car.

Thx Jim, quality looks great.

If I supply the correct headliner material (with some embroidery on them) would he be able to make me a "custom" set?

Sure! They are all made from scratch so anything is possible! :)

Dugg out the embroidered headliner material I got and the color is way off from my headliner so I guess this project is a no go  Will stick with the sunshades I got at the moment ...

Jan I'll have the newer material on the next batch of shades so we'll see how the color looks. I can have him order the material and embroider whatever on it and have him put them together. Just let me know what your thinkin! :)

Ok boys I got a new batch of sunshades in. They came out awesome. They are not a dead match to the color but very close. He tried 4 different fabrics to get these as close as possible. No one makes them like these. They are same thickness material but the cardboard used is better then OEM. It's water resistant and slightly thicker then OEM. They don't flex and feel as flimsy as OEM ones. I had a OEM set of sunshades destroyed to makes these so the shape, size, and form is perfect to the OEM ones. There is some cheaper aftermarket ones out there that do not even fit close to how these fit. These are a must for leather cars in the summer! I have 3 sets for sale. I also had some gray ones made for the GN guys. I had 4 sets made in tan and Jason was the first to get a set from this batch. The guy is slow on work right now so if I miss anyone I can get more made right away. I'm only going to have a few sets made at a time as my wallet is on fire after this batch! :) This guy only takes cash from me! :) Price is $150.00 for a pair. I can do Paypal. I'll also include a copy of the factory instruction sheet.
