Just just bought a turbo Trans Am probably has been sitting with the original gas since 1994 some mice all over the place typical stuff from a sitting car long story short I take the thing to DMV took two tries to get it through inspection then they refuse to inspect the car as an antique because it's a street rod because of all the heavy modifications like the turbo and the headers I said these are Factory why do you think it says turbo on the side of the car they said no no cars come with Factory headers on them you've done modifications so now they want me to tag my car as a street rod which gives very limited usage of the vehicle the response was no car would ever come from the factory with this many modifications to it I now have an appointment to see a supervisor sometime next week

I have a copy of the original dealer brochure and it literally lists headers is one of the engine components I'm going to bring this in in my defense
That dealer brochure is gold, bring it along with any window sticker or build sheet you can find, because the RPO codes will clearly show the factory turbo and headers, and most DMV supervisors will back down when you put official documentation in front of them. You might also try reaching out to the Pontiac Historical Society or a TTA registry to get a letter confirming factory specs, that kind of third-party documentation can really help seal the deal.
