I might have the small plastic piece you are after, can you post a picture of where it goes just so I'm sure of what you are after ....

Stock down pipes are going to be pricey. Think about this, you can probably get a 3" aftermarket Mease, Terry Houston or ATR easier that a stocker. "They" ain't making stockers any longer, but the after market may spit out a few a year... Are you putting a modified car back to stock or trying to preserve a stock down pipe to put on a dump cap or electric cutout on a stock down pipe? Good luck looking for one, I'd say since they are exclusive to the TTA specifically that this certain piece will eventually bring the most $$$. The motor parts, tranny, heads, and most other things can be used from a Grand National, but the DP is a one off piece.:cowboy:

I just want a stock one in case I decide to return my car to stock form someday. It has a 3" THDP on it now and that's all that came with it. Hopefully someone will decide to part with one sooner or later. I just figured I'd post up for one from time to time until I find one.
Last time I posted for one you said they would be at least $150 to $200 and I'm willing to pay that but so far no takers. In all honesty I hate to pay that much for a part that will hang on the wall and probably never get used but I'd like to get one before they disappear or turn to gold. So I have to pay what the market will bear.

I've since seen a few inquiries for stock down pipes for TTA's, so thats why I think the demand has increased. I think that some have been used in conversion projects on F body cars and maybe other applications. I'd surf the Buick forums mostly. I got one for a friend of mine doing a f body to Buick Turbo conversion. He since has quit the project, but he doesn't want to sale it. He's convinced himself that he will use it. Keep looking on the Buick Turbo TA forums. There has to be some more out there.

Sorry can't help with that one, seems impossible to find ... mine was missing when I bought my car back in 2000 and all I've been able to find is a broken one (missing a piece and cracked) during all these years. Sorry.

I think he's still driving it as a daily D. Haven't talked to him in 9 months.
They crack very easily so it's very hard to find any and they where only used 1987-1989 and the beechwood color only 88-89. You will be able to find gray ones as they produced more gray interior cars than any other color. Challenge is to find paint to match and that do stick to the plastic, I got a nice gray one I been saving for mine but not find the correct color yet ...
Here's an idea for the door armrest trim pieces, many of them are missing or cracked .... what IF we had them made out of aluminum and painted to match. Would fit any 87-89 GTA and could then be painted any color and would last forever.
I can get the 3D CAD model done and these could easily be cut in a 2 axis CNC machine, anyone got contacts to do this?
I got a nice one I can use to re-engineer / model and see where we end up.
Any thoughts, would people be interested?

A friend of mine is a machinist and he has a CNC machine with X and Y axis if that's what you mean. He said he'd be happy to take a look at a print or making it from his own sketch just from looking at it. I asked if he'd want to make 20 maybe and he said sure but he just wants to see it before he commits to it. I was going to bring him my broken one next week when I bring him some parts to machine for my business.

I'm having one of my guys do the 3D model, ask him if he can accept and IGES, STEP or other file format of the actual 3D model to machine from.

I ran it by my friend and his machine doesn't accept those programs. If if I heard him correctly he has to put the Z axis in manually or all of them manually or something like that. As you can tell I'm not a machinist myself! I'm going to bring him the piece so he can see it and go from there. He said if you made a blueprint of it he could do it from there or once he sees mine he could draw it up himself.
Ok so no CNC machine then, I could do a proper drawing of it but some of the curved surfaces would be hard for him to recreate.
Let us know what he can do when he sees your piece and I will check with some people I know that have CNC machines and can take the 3D CAD data.
