So how does a TTA with 12K not have the original rims still on it...

Saw this on eBay thought it was strange. All original and beautiful condition but missing the original rims? I e-mailed the seller. Who wants to place bets he fights with me swearing those are the originals?

Yup your right...... Hes sticking to they are original :chair:

what a load of crap. if you're going to sell a used car for 40k you would think you would know a little bit about it. esp a car that is so rare like this one.

no difference at all. They made 2 types. One with dimples and ones without. The dimple rims are what came with the TTA and most GTA's. The non dimple ones were a older version and from what I gather the centers were "soft" so when mounting tires if you were not careful you would crack or stretch the centers and your center caps would not fix correctly anymore. They corrected this with the dimpled style rims.

The rims on this TTA are Enkie rims and he too told me they were originals. I e-mailed him back and said look at ever other TTA for sale and none of them have those rims! Everyone should e-mail him who reads this thread and ask him. :)

I did send him an email regarding the rims :D

He also told me that he's just "playing the middle" in selling this car. I tried to help him out by asking him to pull the rims on the car and take some pictures to verify what they are.........or aren't.

So, would these aftermarket wheels be 15" ? If so, a quick look at his window sticker will prove to him he has the wrong wheels.

as an aside...that engine compartment is every bit as dirty as my 30K mile car was when I brought it home.

The wheels look like 16's. The car looks very stock and kept well. If he would clean it up a bit and put original style wheels back on it it should realistically (in this shitty economic climate) bring about $32,000. IMO. :pedo:

They may be 15" I'll ask him! :) But I think they were 16" the Enkie's.

I just did this pic for you guys who don't know when someone says what's a dimple rim and what's not... :)

Remember in 87 the GTA rims do not have that dimple ... and the gold color is slightly darker ....

You guys are right...he's sticking to the "these are the original wheels" line when asked.

And just from the pictures, mileage and description I don't see anywhere near $40K for this particular TTA. I frankly don't see anymore than $20K-$22K for it.

..

HOw could not mby now have looked at other tta's and seen the rims?? He must have noticed by now with all the emails that his rims are different than the other 1554 tta's out there. Crazy.:boxed::dumb:

Absolutely correct!!! 1987, one year only with the "no dimple" wheel. Not as structurally sound as the 1988-1992 wheel. Tell the owner...."You want the truth; you can't handle...."

I decided against buying a TTA with 16K on the clock for $16,500. Car was mint and had all books and records. Still had the original plug wires with the anniversary logo. I think we are going to see some serious deals on nice cars in the next few months.

Anyone notice the no dimple rims on the TTA in the 20th brouchure? Also, some TTAs were release with the gold bird instead of the WS6 center caps.

Yep the TTA's at Indy I got a video of some have the gold bird center caps. Also some TTA's came with the gold bird emblem in the rear tail light center panel .... guess they ran out of emblems and used what they had ...

My one owner TTA came with silver bird center caps. I have often thought about making a switch to the gold ws6 caps.
