rev limit

Hey! I had my motor done and the shop set the rpm limit to 6000. Does that seem a little high to you guys??? I don't have the stock tranny, but I do have the stock 109 block with a new eagle crank and daimond forged pistons and a comp cam shaft, (flat tap). What do you guys think??
thanks, Jarred

What cam? And is it a stroker crank?

I told my engine builder to set my cam for 6200rpm. He said the short block could take 7000rpms all day long with the girdle and everything but I'd rather stay a little on the concervative side.

Good Luck

Are you guys talking about the chip's rev limiter? Or how the cam is degreed?

ya I am not too sure how the cam shaft is degreed but I know the cam sensor was off before and now they straightened it out. ( I didn't ever mess with that though). My car revs to 6k and then keeps accelerating from boost, that is normal right?? I am just worried that something is gonna happen at that high rpm like my pistons and valves smackin eachother. or maybe my alcohol injection failing at high boost and high rev, that would be horrible, not to mention expensive. I just want to be confident to go wot and not worry that my car is going to be damaged. Thanks , Jarred.

As long as your shortblock holds up it sounds like you cam it loving the RPMs. From your sig it looks like you've got good pistons and crank, did you go with a girdle or upgraded caps? As I understand it that is a weak point at high RPMs; the caps walk and all hell breaks loose. As long as you've strenghtened your bottom end I'd guess your 6000 rpms should be fine.

I see your description of mods includes a bowtie OD transmission. Is that the 4L60 or 700R?
