hi , recently picked up a tta 26k miles noticed a pretty bad rear main seal leak, car is all original when its up on ramps leak is alot worse ,iguess because oil is settling to rear of engine . any help would be great!
Dennis Kirban, the Turbo Buick guru says if your rear main doesn't leak, there's probably something wrong. It seems to me that cars that haven't been run often leak the most. Try putting some miles on the car, and see if it improves.
....so whats involved in changing out the rear main seal? my car still has the original one in it and it will leak a bit at first start up, but once there's heat in the engine it tends to swell up a bit and seal it self shut. this is something i'll be doing myself later on this summer so i'm wondering just how hard is it to swap one out?????......
Hi Joe,so you're saying put in the rear main seal,2 piece neopreme on crank, but instead of the side strips, fill with RTV, Right Stuff ?????? The reason I ask,is that I have heard this before, not just on Buick v6's,but on the BB Mopars to.
Thanks
