Re-paint for #402

Looks good Joe, been there about 3 years ago when I stripped mine for a repaint.
Make sure you don't get too much paint and clearcoat in the hood vent receses (spelling) as you will have an issue reinstalling the vents for a nice and flush fit ... don't ask me how I know. Too much paint and they wont fit properly.

Nothing looks great, like a new paint job.

Yes it is a complete Strip and Re-paint. In the pics with the door decals are still on because that is right after the dissassembly had begin. The doors & fenders will be next to come off of the car. The car is being stripped back to bare metal and completely refinished. The only exception will be underside of hood ( so I dont loose those ever improtant info decals & VIN Label ), Inside of the doors and the underside of the liftgate ( also so I dont lose the VIN labels ), and the front strut towers. I plan on painting each piece of the car apart & then re-assemble after paint work is done, thus leaving no tape lines of any kind. We have also ordered the fiberglass replacement for the rear spoiler so that I may put the correct style of spoiler back on the car as it had a 91-92 spoiler on it when I purchased the car. The car will also be receiving new OEM weatherstripping ( since it is appart anyway ) and a new emblem kit & decal kit as well.

Just wondering but why are you going with a full repaint? The body in the photos looks to be in fairly good condition, although they're small pictures and I'm sure they're leaving a lot of details out. Looks good so far, and sounds like you're doing it all right.
I was afraid to ask that question.
But I would like to know.

It is hard to actually say how much as I am part of the Management team at the body shop that is repairing the car so there is alot of things I can do that take out part of the cost to me. But if I were to pay for this type of repair we would charge around $8500.00 for this type of job.

That's exactly my problem. I have been quoted $4500 for painting my TTA and I don't think i can invest that kind of money into a car with 79k and a ton of mods. I'd be willing to pay $3k and feel good about what I spent, but I'm sure I'd feel shitty about the paint job. That's the reason I've deciced to sell the TTA and get back in a TR. Almost a year ago I sold my first GN after owning it for 8 years, going from a 13 sec. car to a low 10 sec. car. I regret the hell out of that. I sold it and bought a Vette, swore that I wanted a TTA and now I really don't know what to do. I'd like to stick with the TTA but if I do I would want to put in the 10's on pump gas and alky. We all know that costs. Almost a year without the GN and I haven't replaced it yet. One word of advise for anyone that truly loves their car, "Don't sell it" it's not worh it in the long run.

You can do all you can like covering things when you sand, but everything that is done in this process creates dust, dirt or sanding sludge. So when it comes to putting them back together you just have to clean as you put it back together & then really do a nice detail on the rest after re-assembly is complete. Its not really as bad as you might think it would be if you take the right precautions as you work on the car.

I contacted them already and they were no help without a check I am assuming . They all said there is no way to obtain that number - so I guess sending them 60 dollars makes them look a little harder . I guess I will have to pony up 60 to learn that number I will post after I learn that.
I purchased it last year in boston and drove it back to detroit and still has only 4000 miles. good fun I am awaiting better weater so I can take it out soon .
