No start problem

I just changed my fuel filter and now my TTA won't stay running. It starts and runs for a second and then shuts off. I double checked the flow on the filter. Any suggestions?

I tried another filter and same problem. It starts and RPMs go up to around 1500 and it shuts off. Getting frustrated.

Maybe there isnt enough fuel in your lines yet. try to start it a few more times. should be ok once the fuel lines fill up.

Your gonna need to find out if the fuel rail is building and holding pressure. And you'll need to have a gauge on the end of the rail. You should also jumper the fuel pump relay to see if it runs the pump. Second thought I have is that some aftermarket chips have an anti-theft/valet mode that is default "on" if the battery was disconnected and reconnected.

Bear with me this the first electronic car I have tried to work on. Where is the relay located? Does the fuel pressure guage go on the end of the rail where there is a cap?

relay; near or behind the brake booster. Gauge; yes, on the left side of the fuel rail, towards the front. Looks like a large tire valve.

BUT, if don't already have one, you should get a 1989 turbo T/A supplement manual. It lays out troubleshooting diagrams specific to the TTA drivetrain. www.helminc.com

Turns out I had a security problem and a bad MAF Sensor. Wire broke off in the ignition and the security was cutting the car off. New ignition and security keys and a new sensor and all seems well.

If you're not the kind of owner that drives the TTA everyday and exposes it to theft then I'd get your chip burnt with the VATS disabled. VATS is still a pretty fair theft deterrent when it's working but when your keys are worn, or lock cylinder is worn or VATS module is spotty it will leave you stranded.

Where and what kind of MAF sensor did you buy?
