Thanks Ron. Didn't see Loyd, but at the next meeting, I'll be sure to say hi.
Had a great time although the sun didn't make much of an appearance. I love this show, what a unique collection of cars. People love talking about their cars too. I learned about the "Nail Head" engine and it's origin. I learned the history of the Buick "Wildcat", I had never seen one before. I thought the GS had a very different curve to the rear chrome bumper. One of the classics, a Buick Super had every option on it. The dash was incredible including a fold out Kleenex box option. The 87 Grey T-Top looked really nice with the grey wheels. I also learned about the Buick Riviera and how it was the car everyone wanted back in the day, luxury and performance. A couple had incredible hood ornaments, the chrome plane on the Oldsmobile's, and my favorite...the orange Chieftain on the Pontiac.
I showed my father-in-law the pics last night and he raved over the Riviera and said that the Buick's were just the nicest GM's made back then, even better than the Cadillac. Just a perfect mix of luxury and performance.
Here are few of my favorite pics of the day. Benny, the GN owner's engine was masterfully redone. He explained to me about his EFI ignition system and computer. He described it as if Buick built the GN today, it would be with this type of ignition system that can run off of E85 or 93 octane, all built in safety controls so you could not over-boost or detonate the engine, and with traction control. And I thought the wide band, powerlogger, and upgraded scanmaster was an advanced system.
