Leaking Rear Diff

TTA830

Active Member
my '89 TTA has a slow leak of diff fluid, and I am getting all kinds of different advice.... One guy said the level is too high, drain it down. Another said replace the cover with one of those T/A Performance aluminum ones. Any suggestions?

Is it leaking from the back cover or the front seals? You don't need a TA cover to get it to seal properly.

First I thought it was the gasket, so had it replaced. Still leaking. Now I think its a slow leak from the fill plug.

Robert is right....i went through the same thing. Take the plug out, let it drain until it stops, reinsert plug...enjoy.

The plug could also be bad. They do dry out and crack over time.
"they" Should have put a threaded plug in from the factory.
