Is headlight bubling normal?

There's a 28k mile TTA and the headlight has some bubbling. The owner said this was typical but don't recall hearing about it before. Needs the wing replaced as well (same shape). Is $16k fair?

How is the rest of the car,if that is the only bubbling and everything else is okay considering it only has 28,000 miles I think 16,000 is okay:thumbup:
 
The rest of the car looks good. Although I have to wonder how a 28k mile car stored indoors had damage like that. There was a ball mounted on the steering wheel that left imprints on the wheel but otherwise in good shape. Trying to decide if its worth the 16k hes asking
 
Well anything is possible but i would take a hard look underneath, expect to see surface rust but the extent of it tells a story, good or bad...:devil: the rest of the car don't look bad.
 
yea check the common spots for rust. T-Top area, Wheel wells etc. Man those NE cars get pretty rusty if not in check. but 28k miles for 16k is Very Fair.
 
Climate has a lot to do with condition. If this TTA spend its life in the desert Southwest, it might not have any problems with condition of the paint.

I know my Syclone spent most of its life in Arizona in the desert with low humidity and every nut and bolt looks like new. So, if you can get a TTA from this area you are better off than most areas of the country.

That TTA looks good with the exception of the lights area. Check for more areas as noted above! They might even give you a better deal than the 16K.:D
 
Those headlight lids are made from some "pot metal" casted and they do start "white rusting" and you get that effect but must been in a really moist or poor environment for some time for doing so UNLESS they were repainted at some point and not properly prepped allowing moisture to get in there. Good news they come off and can be repainted easily.

Rest of cars looks really nice; I would just look for any traces of the car being repainted or underneath for severe rust (pitted) as normal light surface rust on untreated areas is normal.

What's the car number?
 
It could have just been a poorly prepped part from the factory or re sprayed and poorly prepped.
It could also have been lil rock chips that let in moisture and then corroded.

Yeah i see it now, not the end of the world but i wouldn't buy it until i put it on a lift and had a look see... if it checks out then 16k is a good deal, also i tend to look at the # of owners vs the mileage.

The black metal will start to rust when water, moisture gets in there. Even when washing the TTA water would get in this area thru the hood vents. So, I don't hardly ever wash it anymore, not unless I have to!:beach:
 
I think it's #86. Does not appear to have any other rust issues (from the pictures) . I can't tell if the bubble to the left of the wing is a paint blob or rust....

Decisons...decisions

TTA #1 - 28k miles, cloth, dented steering wheel, needs minor paintwork and a wing, bone stock, $16k

TTA #2 - 37k miles, leather (usual wear), cracked wing, dirty carpet, cracked tttops, bone stock (still has orig plug wires),$14K

 
It was undercoated... That's good actually IMO.

Those are tough decisions..... What do you plan on doing with the car? Mod it , show it,. Sunday drive it?
 
It was definitely stored in a humid environment. The exposed metal parts under the car show some rust. It looks solid otherwise but make sure you take its condition into account when you make an offer.
The wing problem is common and most of us have replaced ours with a fiberglas repro. The metal support inside rusts and expands and cracks the rubber covering.
The blob to the left of the wing is a paint drip and most cars have it.

I plan on fixing all the bad issues (wing, etc) and driving it. Sunday driver
Is probably the closest choice. This is all helpful feedback so thanks so much for sharing your experience.
 
I have had both cloth and leather and I love the cloth car for it's limited numbers and I feel it is more comfy to me. Should be worth more in the long run and hold up better. Car looks pretty clean and should be nice to add to your stable. :)
