HELP "fuel pump hot wire kit"

Ok I got a fuel pump hot wire kit from Gbody parts. It was from the tta section so I thought this was plug and play. I have wired it up to the alternator and ran the wire along the fule lines to the back of the car. Then when I unplug the harness to the fuel tank, I thought it would plug into my new wiring harness, but both are male ends and don't fit together.

THe wire coming out of the fuel tank is male with small plastic housing, and the female end on the hotwire kit has the same small platic housing so they will not fit together. The small plastic housing with male end coming from the tank "would" fit into the big plastic housing on the hot wire kit BUT it has male prongs too so it doesn't. Male prong on male prong just aint right.

Am I missing something here??

should have purchased it from Racetronix...I know their kit is plug & play, have it on my car. I don't remember exactly the details but it should all just plug together...some pic's here of kit installed on TTA http://www.racetronix.com/Racetronix-TTA_Pump_Kit.html

well I cut the harness and switched them around and everything works great, gonna have to lower the fp a bit as it is higher now.
 
I would think the pump would last longer getting the correct voltage allowing it to pump as it should, vs getting less voltage and working harder to pump. But I don't really know.
 
Pumps usually go out due to people running the tank low on fuel. Pumps need fuel to lubricate them and not burn out the motor on the pump by causing them to overheat. Always keep your tank at least a 1/4 full and your pump shouldn't burn out. This holds true for your daily driver as well. my 2 cents :)

Sometimes people run their tanks low at the track for less weight, but make sure to have enough fuel so the pump doesn't run dry when launching.

My TTA harness from Racetronix was supposed to be made for the car, and it was about 3 feet too long. For the money I spent on it I thought it should have been a better fit...
 
ya mine was really long too, good thing I started from the front and worked back. I rolled it up and zip tied it to keep it neat and clean. I too thought it should be a better length, even a G body would not need that much.
 
my Racetronix kit pretty much fit perfect...started in the back and worked my way forward...maybe a little extra but that was easily hidden under all the junk up front on the driver side.

Hot Wire kit is pretty much a security blanket for your fuel system/pump. The factory wiring is somewhat undersized causing a voltage drop between the battery and the fuel pump especially when the fuel pressure is turned up. Using a higher volume fuel pump will need a solid steady voltage source to work properly...thus the need for heavier gage wire (hot wire kit). Pretty common among most hi-perf cars.
 
OH SURE !!!! LOL now they make kits that just plug in, I had to make my own 6 years ago. I just put on an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, runs a little smoother with a touch more pressure. I too never run below 1/4 in any of my cars (8) not a good idea !!
