The BPG runs a pretty neat race at this event every year call a Charity race and they set up some new rules for it this year to get folks into racing their cars some more and make it more fun! It's a fun race to get in as is. Here is the info from the race director for the BPG....
New Charity Race Rules
I've been toying with the idea of "how to get newbies" on the track! So this year, we are trying something different for the Charity Race.
Basically it's going to run like this:
1 time run, random dial in, red light turned off, any make or model!! Got your interest? Well I hope so!
10$ donation to participate in the class. Money will be collected in the staging lines before the 1st round of eliminations.
You will be called to the lanes for your one and only time run. You do NOT have to qualify for this class....If you know your car, and you've already had time runs, you can choose to either use this as another time run or simply just show up for the first round of eliminations.
I will have the track turn OFF the redlight. You will, however, still have to stage and use the lights to activate the timing system. You can red light, but if you take off before the lights drop, instant disqualification. Hint: you can sleep at the light and still have a shot, get to antsy and take off before timing is activated, disqualified.
Dial in: no need to worry about what to dial! I will have the track throw up a random dial in and ALL cars are to run that number. The closest to the time without breaking out...wins that round! I will make the number high enough where MOST/if not all cars will be able to run. Ex. 23.10 or something like that. In a case of a double break out, the car to break out the least will advance to the next round.
Second round til the final, the number will change according to the times of the cars left in the class.
So, in other words, this is a great way to get the new people out on the track. We need to get interest from more people to keep the sport alive. It's also a nice way to give to charity and have fun at the same time!
You can't technically redlight (unless you leave waaaaaaaaaaaaay early, don't have to worry about a dial in and it would be so great to watch 10 second cars trying to slow down to 20 seconds and 15 second cars trying to do the same.
Bracket racing at its finest! Come out and have fun. Tell your teens, your mom, dad, grandma/pa...lets get everyone involved! Don't ask yourself why should you run this race....ask yourself WHY NOT!
Oh yeah, thanks to a special person, there will be a small payout for this class as well. winner, runnerup and semi's.
I may be adding things as I have a tendency to forget the normal stuff. Ok...tell me what you think!
