engine quit

During a recent drive while cruising @ 45 MPH the engine quit, no missing, no surging, etc. it was just as though I had turned the key to the off position. I pulled over and tried to restart. When I turned the key, nothing, not even a bump from the starter. All the gauges moved to their normal positions but no reaction from the engine. Multiple attempts to start engine over 15-20 minutes with same result, not even a bump. Then engine cranked and ran fine. Made it about 1/2 mile same thing happened. Did this twice more and finally called tow truck. Anyone experienced this kind of engine problem?

I would check the wiring to your starter. Be sure the contacts are clean and tight. Same with the battery. I had a stalling problem for a long time then changed the crankshaft sensor and have not had an issue since.

Yes, check connections at battery, starter, and I'd say alternator as well. I had an alternator go bad on another vehicle and it just died. Opened the hood and POP went the serpentine belt! Check your belt for excessive wear and if you feel comfortable taking it off check to see if you can spin the alternator freely.

Did you loose all power to car ? Check all wires at starter remove clean and reinstall pull neg. cable off batt. frist

Definately check and clean the battery and starter connections. If that doesn't do it check the fusible links at the starter.

The car will crank but will not run but about a minute or two. I have to wait 10 minutes or so between attempts but it cranks normally if I wait. If I don't wait it won't do anything until 10 or 15 minutes passes. The gauges have power with the key in the on position but the starter won't even click. I have a new Optima battery in the car and no signs of corrosion.

I had a strange thing happen like that. Only thing i noticed was my Intake air temp sensor fell out if my filter. Put it back and have not had the problem for four yrs

This reads like a potential VATS problem, with the "15 min timeout" and all.

But sudden stalling doesn't add up to that.

Fuse links at starter may be opening -cooling and re opening again feel links for break i think one of the 2 is a ing wire ill look for wiring diag and try and check
