Engine build from scratch

Hey guys, I am new to this forum and I always loved the TTA and I actually know of one for sale not to far from me that I wish I could buy but I just can't afford to right now.

Anyway, I have decided to attempt to build a TTA engine from scratch. I have already purchased heads they are new but they have been sitting for years so the need to be cleaned due to some surface rust, etc. Theres a guy in NJ thats that still has like 6-10 sets of them.

I will be purchasing a 109 block this week.

I need to know what crank I should buy, from what vendor. Cost is a factor. I really don't want to spend an arm and a leg. I just want to have a nice build as close to stock but just better, unless you all suggest otherwise. This is going to be a build that is going to take a long time as I guess you already know.

Please give your suggestions on Cranks, cams, etc. Im a virgin to engine building so go easy on me, lol.

What rwhp is your goal ? I went with all steal caps and a rjc girdle and crank scraper with je piston an only went .20 over

I haven't really thought that far ahead. I actually was not sure what you meant and had to google it, sorry I am brand new at this.I am up to any of your suggestions.

if you don't know a lot of people cant build these engines correctly its not rocket science but they don't have close tolerences an build them like a chevy an the oil just isn't there for the bearings these engines make torque down low an don't have to rev to 6,500 to make power. I have a little bit of knowledge of building chevy engines but I sent mine to nj to a pro. he drilled out the mains to correct the low oiling problem an blue printed my oil pump.... sorry to tell you these engines aren't cheap to build , but if you build them right they will last. I love the 212/212 roller cam and 6262 turbos the 6768 turbos for more power an the 70gtq for all out.I started out with a te-60 an a 3200 stall an best was 11.40's 1/4 an 7.40's 1/8

I live in NJ, who in NJ did you send them to? Im located in south/central New Jersey and its hard around hearing trying to find a good machine shop or speed shop to go to.

The one in NY is not the same person, and is not related to the one in NJ. You can Google the 3.8 motor to find articles that Merkle wrote that are very informative.
