Engine and Tranny Mount R&R

Well it's spring. Finally!
How hard is it to change the motor mounts out if the car is on ramps?

Also gonna do the trans mount, but that easy!

Thanks
Bob

Personally i don't think anything is easy laying on your back.. I have had $400 motor mounts for 2yrs, still not on car..:wheelchair:

Yeah Robert, I agree. I just now got an estimate. 130.....I'll pay it!! Then I move on to all the underhood goodies that's been sitting here for a month.

Thats a tough one. Are you using a tie down strap? If not, get use to changing motor mounts.

I paid to have mine done, twice. Zero issues since the tie down strap.

Joe, that's my plan. Somebody on here has a nice tiedown/anchor that runs from the alt. to the shock tower on the drivers side; just can't remember who. It looks like a turnbuckle.

My brother actually made mine several years ago. If you'll notice in picture 2 there are two mounting points for additional rigidity and overkill connection.
Seems to work well.

One of the best mods I did to my TTA was the H&R mounts(both sides).

They're expensive but only because they're worth it.

Any kind of strap is a band aid IMO, on the other hand count on pulling the eng to install H@R mounts.

I'm in for spending money and all, not a cheap azz by no means.........but WOW, 400 BUCKS! This car will never see the strip. I'm trying to justify them. The Anchor ones you spoke of is the ones I got.

Welcome to the TTA world, they are worse than a boat and a Harley.. combined...:boxed:

Rich (WS6) is right about the poly mounts but you will notice vibration. Some drivers just get use to it and some do not. We put poly mounts on my brothers car and I hated them. I just use the rubber mounts and a strap without any issues. Hooking the strap under the car, hole opposite the crossmember, works well and is less noticeable than other straps but they all work. But as noted, they can snap the mount on the alternator.

IF you think you can get use to some vibration spend the $400 and never do it again....is the best option.

Pick your poison either way.

Joe these are the new softer design they made for the tta, at least i hope they are...I'm surprized you didn't get excited with all that vibration going on...
