Electric Radio AntennRepair Cable

Guys,

Does anyone know where to get an electric antenna repair kit # 22038195? My TTA antenna cable snapped when I turned it on...it now just grinds and doesn't raise the antenna.

I know GM has a replacement antenna P/N 88891017 that says still available for an '89 IROC Camaro...but I don't know if the visible chrome mast is the same as the factory TTA or not.

I would like to repair my original factory antenna and replace the cable.


Anybody have a replacement cable or where I can get one?

There is a sticky over on tb.com in the Turbo TA area that I wrote up on how to replace it with a steel cable from Home Depot for about $3-4. Can use JB weld on the ends instead of soldiering/welding them to the factory metal ends. Lots of pics on the process also.
 
Use the steel cable. Why buy a N.O.S old dried out over priced piece of plastic for it to happen again???
 
Rob I tried the solder with little success. I even used an acid flux in the hopes of etching the stainless steel to no avail. I would have liked to weld as you did but I have no access to one so I went with the JB weld. So far so good.
BTW thanks for the write up.
 
Yeah I have since patched a hole in a pontoon that is below the water line with JB Weld, I have no doubt that stuff will hold it just fine, maybe better than my weld given the 2 types of metal its hard to get a good weld.
Just pack it in the end of the metal end piece then slide the cable right into the hole filled with JB Weld.
