e85 fuel

so this e85 gas has about 106 octane... anyone think of switching over to it? cheaper than 87 octane and you could really crank the boost up, probably wouldnt need my alcohol injection system. thing is, its 85% alcohol... what would need to be done to accomodate this? anything need to be switched out to resist corrosion?

All your rubber fuel lines would need to be switched. You would need to run bigger injectors and possibly a different fuel pump. I am not sure on that. Might want to call Walbro and see if the pump can flow as much as you need and if the internal parts are compatible.

Another thing you will need to figure out is the chip. You will have to get a new chip burned for the E85. The only problem is no one makes one...

Add fuel pressure regulator too.

There is an awesome thread going on in the General Tech on www.turbobuick.com You might want to go over and scroll down and read through that. quick6'n'k.c. brings up a good point about different refineries.

looks like something to keep an eye on. theres a few stations around here carrying it. ill be watching this... it might become viable.

from a performance standpoint E85 has great potential with your average car enthusiast. But to be honest I don't see it lasting more than 5 years as a fuel for the average consumer and if it sticks around after that it'll be advertised as a performance fuel.
