Do you still have your original owners kit?

How many of us have the original kit that came with the car. How many of us had to find one? Does anyone totally not care about having one?
Just wondering. Seems like very few that I see for sale still have a kit with them.
I still have mine as the original owner bought a spare for the decals.

When I got my TTA, it was at the Indianapolis pontiac dealer auction in the summer of 1990. There were several TTAs about 8 or 9. All of them had things (emblems/interior pieces) missing. Remember, this was a Pontiac dealer auction...some workers or fence skippers could have pulled the emblems for souveniers, never the less, almost all of the TTAs up for auction were missing emblems. Even the hard top cloth cars had missing stuff, though back then, we didn't know that those were the most rare TTAs. The one we bid on (a t top leather car) had all the emblems...which is my TTA now. I inspected all of the 8 or 9 cars, they all had missing stuff.. I never saw a "kit" that must have been issued to specifically purchased through a dealer location, where as mine and those others were used in and around Indianapolis by Pontiac management.
 
I got mine with the car purchase. At the time, it was important, as I was looking at it from a documentation stand point. Most of my cars have extensive docs with them. I look at it as good material to have for future selling if need be.

Now, I dont think it would be a deal breaker if the car did not have the owners kit. Nor would I use it as a leverage point to get more $$ if the car was for sale.
 
I have one, not sure if it is the original kit. I would have beat the guy up a little in price if the car didn't have one as someone actually thinks they are worth something and it helps to have it if I ever sell the car.

That's a cool story. I had a buddy that picked up a couple TTAs at auction back in 90. Seems a lot of cars ended up there. I passed on a 24K mile T-top cloth int. car for $11,500. I wish I would have bought it. I thought the price was good, but I wanted a leather car. OOPS!

I have had 4 or 5 of those black boxes and not one of them did anything for me. Well, get me more performance parts. I collected stuff for years and while I had a killer collection, it did nothing for me. Gay 80's jackets and poor quality indy 500 glasses just never did "it" for me. Coming up with creative ideas and fabbing parts is where I get satisfaction. Getting a car to do things that it wasnt designed for and adding to its ingenuity is gratifying to me. Mechanics working in SHM and forces producing torque is what gets my juices flowing.
You guys can complain about what prices are what while im under the hood of my car getting ready for the next race.
No offence to anyone, but im tired of hearing about worth.

Exactly...owners kits are for people who want to show their cars and others who want to sell something that was $30-$60 for $800-$1200...and I like some peoples reason for TRYING to sell theirs for big money...everybody else is. So I guess if everybody was jumping off a cliff you would too???
 
Econ 101: Supply and Demand sets the market price.

Low supply and high demand for the kits for people who love these cars.

Same for the low price of these cars.... always a supply for sale and not a huge demand.... thus the price stays low....but I think that is starting to change as the car is collector status now, lower number of show quality cars available and the awareness of the car is finally starting to grow... someday soon a TTA will be worth as much as a decent regular Buick Grand National... IMHO.... :bash:

Yep - I sure wouldn't give it away.
Kman had the right idea. He sold the kits for what somebody was willing to pay.
 
Ok Back to the original question. Do you have it? Do you care? I personally think it a pretty unique item. I can't recall another such item available with a car when the car was new. I see no reason to hate the owners kit or to get angry if someone sells one for $500. It's kind of cool if it's still wtih the car. Car guys tend to be collectors.

Someone mentioned that the cheesy jackets did nothing for them. I tend to agree with that. They just screem 80's, but hey most of us grew up in that area. I searched forever for a 60's Mopar racing jacket. When I finally got it I found Super Cheezy and sold it the next day! They may be cool to display with the car though.

Ok...could care less about it. I have the SUPER FAST CAR...If someone is willing to pay that much oh well...but i"m sure if they were listed on here ALOT of people would all of a sudden would say disappear
 
As mentioned earlier they will only sell for what the market will bear, would i pay that? not a chance, but the same person buying a owner's kit would probably think i am insane for paying $400 for motor mounts or $1500 for a turbo, we don't all have to think alike or like the same things to share a common interest.
As to the OP question, i had one with #308 and when it was sold it went with the car...:cheers:

Really? Why do you think it is an embarrassment to buy something you want? Me personally, I wouldn't cut up a TTA to make a fake convertible, but that's what is great about life in the good old USA - freedom of choice.
I wouldn't pay a grand for one, but I could see the point of view of someone who likes that kind of stuff.
Kind of like the TTA pedal cars. I really don't get that either. But I don't knock those who collect them.
 
I hate to tell you what i paid for your 82 Recaro i didnt cut that up Still have the original gold stripping for that car N.O.S. new

I invested way too much restoring that Recaro over the years - way more then it is worth. Not to many people see its value. I guess you do though.
