center caps?

Mark T-TB

Car Crazy from birth
I got the new tires mounted on my refinished wheels for #545.
Now, I am not sure of the "procedure" for installing the center caps (surely don't want to lose any of them).

The center caps look like a few of the plastic "tabs" are broken, but then I see there is a separate steel "cage" also.
What is the best way/sequence to put all of this together?
(I have "T" wheels on the GN... used a bit of black RTV silicone to help overcome the broken plastic tabs, they had no "cages").

Suggestions appreciated!
Thanks,

Take the metal ring out of cap if you haven't yet. Install ring into center of rim, insert two bottoms prongs first while holding top two with your thumbs, slide bottom in a little then depress top two and slide them in. It's like trying to install a loaded spring, take your time and ease it in. Then align center cap and slide that on rim after ring is installed. The ring should only be inserted so far, the protruding tabs near the bottom of ring seat inside of the rim center only about a 1/2 inch no more. Kinda tricky because of flexibility of ring...Good luck wear safety glasses in case ring launches at your head.

Can be done with rim lying flat on ground or on car
