Cant seem to find the answer about the tta trans

Getting ready to order a stage 1 trans from extreme automatics. The question that hasn't been 100 percent answered is Does the tta have the grand national BRF housing? I hope I'm asking this right. I new to this car and I'm hopefully learning. Thanks

I don't know what a bfr housing is, so I can't answer your question. However, I have bought three 200-4r transmissions from Lonnie at EA and they work great in the TTA. All three have come with both the chevy and BOP bolt pattern on the bell. All three are still in service and get beat on all the time. Mine are stage three though, not stage one.

Housing is the same as the Buick, Monte SS, and all the other vehicles that had the 305 and 2004r in them.

The local 3.8 Turbo specialist sent mine to Vince Janis in Ohio to be done a few years ago. He specializes in these transmissions and I am very impressed by his work. I know that he said our valve bodies our different than the ones used in the G bodies. We also went with a 2,600 stall converter and I am very happy with it as well.

The valvebody is TTA specific, but the BRF works fine. I believe it's in the springs...the difference that is

I bought a new tta specific valve body when I ordered a transmission from Bruce Tolle, he said it was his last one. I don't think they are available any more but what ever Lonnie puts in his work great. If you plan on keeping the car I would get the best trans you can and I feel the EA stage three is just that. The last thing you want is trans trouble. Ever since I put in the EA stg 3 I have never had any trouble. Before that I had a trans rebuilt four times and was stranded FOUR TIMES. That gets old very fast. I have Lonnies trans in my 81 TTA, and my 89 TTA and my vette.

I have 2 freshly built all billet trans from Janis with t brakes an bruces pans

BRF was the tag that was attached to the GNs and the TTA have a tag attached to them witht the making of TAF. Not sure what the F means but I just located that tag on mine. FYI I do know the TTAs have a four wire trans and the GNs a three.

The TTA has a special valvebody as mentioned already, but the GN valvebody, the BRF, is just fine. It is what I run in mine.

valve body is only a lil bit ... make sure u have good clutches an billet parts unless u like breaking trans ... if your making over 450 rwhp

you guys that posted about janis in ohio... can one of you post his contact info for me please?

thanks!

I just got my trans from CPT (art carr). They sent me the wrong one (non lock up) by accident but corrected the issue reight away. Got her installed and have put bout 50 miles on her yesterday. So far so good. Paint shop next. This car is growing on me as I really was looking for a GN.

that's who I got mine from too (CPT). But I got the non-lock. Love it. Smoother than stock. Shifts crispy. I have the 2800 nl stall. I don't miss the lockup, even at highway speed I can't really tell the lockup is gone.

My dad had a GN, I drove it a little before my TTA. I prefer the TTA, especially when you get into some turns faster than you thought. Wow, I would have put a GN in a few corn fields years ago.
