ive never seen another tta there, but i did see an 89 white gta once.
i thought itd be cool if a few of us brought out the TTAs one night, itd be a first for that meet.

If I had the time and money, that looks like fun. But unfortunately, I don't. You should go. Take lots of pics and post!:cowboy:

i gotta go to frys and get a sd card for my camera... all i have is my phone camera and thats just not good enough.

one of these days we need to get more than 1 TTA out at that meet.

What is "frys" I have Kodak Digi. It's pretty impressive.

frys is a big electronics and home appliance store.

they had a "mega meet" not long ago, i didnt make it but lots of people did. there were some nice cars out there. ford gt's all sorts of mustangs, ferraris i believe, vipers, camaros trans ams etc. you name it. theres a bunch of pictures but you have to register on the ricekiller site to see em.

What's the url of the "riceKiller' website?

hmmmm:eam: Interesting site. I only quickly looked at the opening page, they have a cool look. This site (we) needs an over-haul, sex it it up a bit. Though, if the name is to be taken for real "ricekiller", well, I'm not apposed to Ricers, I think that the ricers are neeto cars. I like when folks make their rides as cool and especially as best performing as they can. Those ricers come up with some cool stuff. I'd like to have a new turbo Cobalt SS myself, even if it's an "american" version of rice. Ultimately, though...like this website header says. Turbo Trans Am all the damn way. The 89 TTA was the American hybrid (thanks to Buick) that set the stage for this generation of streetable 11-12 second better handling rides, not to mention air conditioned and plush rides that combine 60's street muscle with European handling characteristics, small fuel efficient cubes that outperformed big block "legendary" chevy 454 L88 vettes. What else in the 80's was like the TTA? Answer?: None.
GNX you say, maybe? I know a curvy road that I'd run a GNX on any old day.
89 TTA. win, win.

youre going by the old definition of rice, applying to all imports. the word rice has evolved moreso to mean vehicles modified to give the appearance of power, but sadly lacking it.

not rice.

a lot of it is behavior and attitude, too. and a lot of it came from the fast and the furious movies. the slogan is "uniting imports and domestics against rice"

a while back, someone showed up in a red third gen firebird. when he went to leave the meet, he revved his engine and peeled out making a left turn. he lost it, hit a curb and almsot flipped sideways. every bit of what he did there was a "rice move". but you get the idea.

anyones welcome to join. its nationwide so who knows, there may be a meet near you.

For sure, I think little of the that type of atitude you speak of, and the Fast & Foolish movies give auto enthusiast of younger ages a bad name IMO. Unfortunately, I see those tacky rides with JC whitney crap glued to them and it's silly. The atitude of these "types" is annoying usually. Maybe these kids are just lost, I understand that they have enthusiasm for their vehicles, but it's been distorted because of pop culture. I do however, meet the guys with level heads (and pants that fit and ball caps that sit atop their cranium in a normal coordinate) not at the local parking lot, but at the local drag strip.
The level heads are more often found at the dragstrip and they are respectable guys with knowledge of their rides. They almost always have very mildly modded exteriors, but under the hood it's totally business. I give them respect, not only cause they are cool guys, but they put down some impressive low 11 second passes on pump gas and many of them DRIVE their cars to the track quite a distance, which I admire. A Mitsu EVO got me. My 12.22 to his 12.21. The next round I got him. We talked a bit and he knew what the TTA's were and actually mentioned that he had always loved them and wanted one, but mine was the first one he'd actually seen.

those movies definitely cause a lot of the negative thinking, but i forgot to mention so do the need for speed games. they had me thinking weird for a while, i had a cobalt ss in that game with a rediculously wild body kit and all, and i wanted to do something similar in real life. fortunately with a little time at ricekiller i came to understand what rice was and they steered me off a potentially stupid course :) i do think a lot of ricers did something similar, they like cars but dont know how to act or whats "cool" and all that. they just go by what they know, the movies and games. some learn, others unfortunately do this.

Good lord, that's terrible. The waste of money that went into that. It'll be in junk yard in 5 years. Now if the jet engines actually worked, that may be cool.

if that thing had jet engines in it id happily drive it. i would have had to have gone with the "space ship" look, too. of course, that massive spoiler wouldve been ripped off pretty quick... hes got at least 3 different colors on that car.

I was at a BJ's the last time I was in Dallas, but not the one in Plano. Actually, I was in TX last week but in Austin & San Antonio. I'll have to throw up a post next time I'm in the area.
