I figure that most of us are? I've wanted a GN and a TTA for quite a few years. What my wife has recently brought to my attention is that the GN are way too comon to really enjoy. I've looked at a few recently and they are holding thier value pretty good. I always thoght that the TTA's would be worth more, but maybe not. In the past it's always been about production #'s when it comes to the value of a car. Doesn't seem to hold true with the TTA's and GN's. It seems to me that 1,500 vs 20,000 there should be a bigger gap. Well anyway we have been out cruising quite a bit this season and have yet to see another TTA. On the other hand we were at a cruise night and there were 10 GN's. I was actually glad that I didn't have one.....

I still love'm and will have one someday but I think I can wait. They still look cool as hell!

The GN's and T's were pretty cheap compared to the TTA. I looked at them very seriously before I ordered my '85 TA and '87 GTA - there wasn't hardly any price difference from what I recall. Plus they marketed the heck out of them at the time. Therefore they have a lot of name recognition that the TTA doesn't have. I have to try and stay calm when people ask me why I took the V8 out and put in a 6.

I've got an 86 and 87 GN. Love them both along with my TTA. The TTA's have not come to their time in value yet but have been on a slow incline and that's always a good thing. If you look at the over all history on ANY classic collector car they release the car, the prices stays about the same or rises into the 1st year, and then it starts to drop. Depending on the car it can drop like a rock real fast and stay there for sometime. Once it bottoms out they start the climb again over time. There are MANY people on this forum that remember a super low mile TTA in the sub 10K price range. I've been offered up to 8K more then what I paid for my TTA over the last hand full of years I've owned it. So I'm not going to complain.

There is no good investment these days in general and that don't help. Low mile GTA's were getting up over 10K and now they dropped into the bucket again. It's hard to look at a car that way. The GN gets it's lime light from the turbo six and that black menacing look. People always want to look bad ass as they roll down the road. While the TTA's body looks great sometimes it just don't have that "badass" look to it. But all of us owners know what's under the hood is all about badass. And that's why we own them. When you put all those elements together with the over package you can't beat the styling, performance, and creature comforts of the TTA!

The biggest difference between the GN and TTA is the GN is a box going down the road. As you go faster it seems they start going up! With the TTA the faster you go the more that car hunkers down and says give me more! When you get over 100mph in a GN you start to wonder when your going off the road!

Here is my 86 GN...

Hell-to-the-Yeah, I'm into GN's!!! , It's kinda by default if you have a TTA, it's like being respectful of what came before and what blessed the GTA body with true superiority. I remember racing a 89 Iroc-Z in the Summer of 1990, total blowdown, thanks to Buick. I had a 305 5spd GTA with a 3" exhaust and K&N...simple mods and that sucker would pounce on 350 Irocs and stangs all day, but holy crap when I gotta a load off Turbo T/A, I started hunting super cars. Philly's stock GN is like the best I've seen, and I been looking for a long time. I saw these things at the 85 GM auto show, I remember my dad thinking that it was the coolest thing he'd seen from GM in a long time. He had several at the shop back then.

Thanks guys! Both were repainted. I guess nothing beats a shiny ass black car! :) Something about that turbo motor that has me hooked! :) And yes I even thought about getting a Syclone :D

First off the third gen f body has to be my favorit car in the world,BUT there is just something abo6t the black car that has me hooked on them. They afre one of the meanest looking cars in the world.Every time I sell one and say I am done with them I find myself looking for another to terrerize.Them I found that they put the motgor in an f body and I knew I had to have one.It took about 10 yrs to get one and now I have the best off both my worlds.

Jim, those cars are amazing. Thanks for sharing.

Although I have a lot of respect for GNs and am a big fan of them. Very badass look and it also walks the walk. Candidly, I've never been a fan of the interior enough to buy one. Here in Colorado, I just don't see that many of them. There is a guy down the street from me that has a pretty nice, built GN (supposed to have dynoed at ~500rwhp??), but I've never seen it out in the 2-3 years I've known it was there.

If not for a GN I wouldnt own 2 TTA's. I got the GN in 04 started lightly moding it then read up abt the TTA's. So after acouple yrs I got a TTA to do the same but couldnt see me moding a bone stock low mile TTA so i had to buy another 1 to mod . The GN rides 10xs better than a TTA.

well guys the tta is a car i passed up in 1990 for 12500.00 a hot rod bud told me to buy it , i told him to get bent ,all i wanted was a vett . this is the story i tell my kids , where dad made a big mistake . so when 1386 came around i jumped on it and now i have corrected my bad ways lol , ps if u want the syclone hit me up 54000.00 miles and its a sauidi gowing for 14000.00 and the gn is the cleanest i have ever seen props to you .

not this one sorry , thats what i would want too . my buddy has this one vortek heads fuel pumps he let connellys get hold of it and enough said there . your car is the bomb . it would make me switch over to the dark side lol !!!!!!!

The GN was my favorite car when they came out in the 80's. A guy friend of mine had one and I thought it was so cool. I always wanted one. Then several years ago got into 3rd gen f-bodies, and changed my mind. Then I wanted a TTA. I guess it was like the best of both worlds-f body car with a turbo. I think the TTA is very under-appeciated by the general public.

I did not know much about the GN's until I bought my TTA. I respect them and think they are nice looking cars. But I would never own one.

I have alwayslovedthe GN's and other turbo Buicks. When I was a kid growing up, my neighbor bought one new. I believe his was an 85 GN. I always thought it was cool looking but did not know much about, just a cool looking car. I was only about 5 at the time. Then a few years later about the time the TTA's came out I knew what the turbo buicks were all about, and have wanted one ever since. Same with the TTA's. finally last year I got my TTA. I also always wanted a SY/TY since my dad told me about them back in late 1990 when he heard about the Syclone. The GN's really opened me up to the Turbo cars from GM.

Ah yes the Gn, My tta used to be stable mates with a GNX, 87 GN and 93 white Typhoon and also a rare lesabre GN. The lesabre GN they only made about 117 of them. I wish I would have bought some of these other vehicles when I got my tta. The Gn and the Typhoon and lesabre GN went dirt cheap. These cars were part of my girlfriends dads car collection. They were all sold about may of this year.

Someday, I will have a GN. A low mileage stock appearing GN.

:idea5: Jim's GN !!!

I want to get a 86-87 blue, white or grey T-Type, put wire hub-caps on it, standard Regal emblems on it and make a total sleeper, Put old man pin striping on it. Maybe a 80's Gatorade Darrell Waltrip front plate on it, Some Harrah's Casino stickers on the bumper. Oh yeah and get chrome bumpers and even a trailer hitch. Oh and a vinyl top! Bonus is that no one will want to steal it.

Then put on a 3.5 or 5" Dp and oval 4" exhaust and run it through the quietest mufflers I could find. MT DR, huge front mount IC, but keep it very much a sleeper from outward appearance and then play mean old man at the stop-lights with all the fart can rice...Whipper snapppers!:wheelchair::wheelchair:

If you rally want to go stealth try for a Limited, landau roof with turbo motor and column shift, Heard they made a few
