Antenna replacement help?

I am looking to see if you have to remove the fender in order to remove the antenna or can you get from just removing the inner black wheel well? Thanks

you can do it just removing the wheel well. There's 2 screws that hold in the bracket and then you'll have to cut the power wires (unless you want to try pulling a lot of stuff off from the dash and finding the end of the wires), disconnect the signal cable, and unscrew the nut on the top of the fender. I think that's it (there might be one other thing I'm forgetting) and then just slide it out. It's pretty simple to do, I pulled mine put a new cable for the antenna in it and put it back in and soldered all the wires in a couple hours.

Don't cut the wires ... the relay where they connect is just under the panel with the performance suspension emblem on the passanger side and can easily be removed in a couple of min. Same goes for the antenna cable.
You will have to remove the kick panel on the passanger side as well to get the cables out.

oops that's right, I had just cut mine because I had cut one of them to get the motor to stop turning because I drove the car to school and it broke when I got there and I didn't want it to kill my battery. So I cut one wire and then when I installed the new one I put in another connector to make it easier to remove.

You should be able to carefully remove the mounting bolts at the lower part of the fender & gently pull the fender out & work the antenna out that way..... or if your replacing the entire unit, just cut off the antenna mast off with a pair of wire cutters & then its out of the way....

I got mine out and I ordered a replacement mast on ebay ($20). We will see when I get it if it fits the housing or not. To be continued.......

I believe you just need the small belt (?) for the stuck up antenna.
Let us know if this works.
I had to replace my antenna with a new NOS one years ago, but I did keep my original antenna (which had the mast stuck in the up position).
I would love to fix my original one.;)
