Aftermarket Spoiler?

Not this request means much, but I'm also in the market for an upholstery set from hawks. My wife's 92 has the same lumbar, color and leather as the TTA(except for the rear headrest) so I need one of thier hampton vinyl sets.

I bought 3 last year for $300 a piece from a manufacturer in CT. Picked them up myself and saved the shipping. He told me not to tell anyone the price, but I'm sure he would do it again. It was G&T Fiberglass. He used to make them for Hawk, but they took a mold off one, and now they make their own. The fit is perfect, and it didn't need too much prep. However.... I recommended these guys last spring to someone, and it took forever to ship.

Post some pics of your wife's 92.

This is days after I bought it. Since then it's had the wheels refinished and new meats put on. Shocks, struts, springs, gas tank, sender, fuel pump and more stuff like SFCs,strut tower brace, wonder bar etc.
It's a 100K mile car and the interior reflects that. So that's this winter's project too. Along with new valve seals and injectors and some general engine clean up. It's a 305 TPI auto car with saddle leather interior and tan top.

...

Very nice for high mile car. Somewhat related, I raced a 92 convertable trans am at the drags the last weekend I went about 2 weeks ago.
That was probably a cool looking race since we were the only F body cars from the 3rd gen. there. I got it by about 7 cars. They are pretty cars but those 305 tpi motors are a bit slow to make power. I had a 89 305 tpi with a 5spd, it had a Gale Banks exhaust and K&N, it was a blast running through the gears. I'd like to have another one someday.

The 92 is my first 3rd gen and allthough pretty lame by today's standards it still is respectable in a street brawl. I've run down a few cars that I was sure would walk me and I regularly run my buddy's 89 IROC with the 350 TPI and if we are on a roll he'll get me by a car or two but never gets away from me.From a dig though, I get a good spanking. I think this might be a reflection of the difference between a MAF TPI and a speed density TPI despite the dispalcement difference. Our car really woke up just by adding a K&N to the throttle body with no piping or MAF to limit airflow. The cat back helps too.
But, ultimately that's not why I bought it, I bought it to get my wife enthused about owning collector cars and having a vested interest in one of "my" hobbies.

I spoke with Jeni and she said that the GP option will have to be looked at by Bruce. I expect a call from him early next week with details and minimum purchase quantities.

Anyone else interested?? I'm sure we'll need at least 5-10.

Just putting this back on the radar.

Has Bruce gotten back with you??

All,
I've heard back from Bruce and Jeni at Hawks (thanks Jeni!!!) and they have confirmed group purchase discount priviledge for rear spoilers for us. Specifically for the 85-90 wrap-around rear spoiler (
http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=431)

Here are the caveats:
Minimum order is 10 spoilers for the group
With that quantity, price per spoiler is $300 vs. the standard price of ~$350

A $15 boxing fee still applies, so total would then be $315 per spoiler which still saves $50 each.

Shipping fees still apply on a location-by-location basis, however... Hawk's will also support group shipping to specific locations which is where a much bigger savings comes into play. So in the ideal case, if we ordered 10 spoilers to one location, we would only pay one shipping fee to that location for all 10 spoilers. Otherwise, for shipping we are on our own case-by-case; spoiler-by-spoiler.

Please let me know if you are still interested. If we can get 10 total, we can get the $50 discount per-spoiler. Aside from that, we'll have to figure out the most efficient shipping scenario for each region. At last count in this string, we have 8 including me.

Chris or Jim, you may want to move this string to the Group Pricing section...

Thanks,
Lance

Allright, if I'm reading through the thread correctly, we have 9 confirmed buys.

Listed;echostatic,gatorlance,WS6,Ringo(2),Phillyturbosix,tta229,ttagoatman and sverble.

We need one more.:toot:

Hey Jim,
Thanks. Well, I know it's not the power antenna as I've dealt with that before on my 1991 GTA. And I know it's not the engine fans since the motor sound is coming from the back of the car. And the trunk motor is not moving or making noise - it's coming from the back underneath the car, so I was thinking it's some kind of fuel pump issue??

Thanks again!

Fuel Pump!

Bump.

The folks at Hawk's told me that they'll give me until end of January for folks who want to get in on this. Also, that we may be able to get away with 9 total that we already have rather than the 10 minimum (thanks again Jeni!!).

Please PM me with your zip code and we'll see what shipping deal we can get. Folks who live close together would only pay one shipping fee if they are willing to go to a common place for pickup.

Also asked Jeni what is the deal with the large shipping fees. Basically there are two issues: some carriers may not tolerate the size of the box; and breakage in-transit. Using the freight carriers that Hawk's specifies guarantees against both issues. But if you are okay with it, you can also specify your own carrier...

Send me an email or PM if you are interested. We'll plan to finalize the GP by end of January unless anyone objects or wants their spoiler sooner.
