4000 mile TTA sells at auction

For $20,500. Sounds low to me. I remember seeing much higher prices not too long ago. I don't get into TTA pricing at all like some people, so I could be wrong. Just thought I'd post it here as an FYI. :)

That's WAY too low ... I just sold my 1,210 mile TTA for $36K, after it ended at just over $30K in the eBay auction. I even have a backup buyer offering the same $36K amount in case the primary falls through.

The last thing we need is people selling sub-5000 mile TTA's for $20K. That just ruins it for everyone else! Well, at least the people that apply some sort of value/financial interest to the collector hobby at least. I do ...

The auction market seems to be in a slump right now. At the Russo Steele auction this weekend all cars shown on TV were no reserve and were going for 10-30% less than what they should. The best example, a 2 owner, museum kept unrestored Lamborghini Mirua, these things go on ebay for $240K+, at the RS auction... $189K
 
right now it's a buyers market, you'll almost always see about a 10-20% slump in prices in the fall since it's almost winter and no one is looking to buy a nice summer toy right now. Then prices in the spring go for about 10-20% more which is the best time to sell if you can. Whoever picked that 4k mile car up got a really good deal, my car has 26k miles on it and if I were to go to sell it I wouldn't ask a dime less than $20k for it.

Mike, I can't believe you sold your car. Whoever you sold it to make sure they join the community and post. You were very helpful with pictures of that beautiful car when anyone had any questions. Do you plan on sticking around for a little while or moving on to something else?

I imagine I'll buy another TTA, something with some mileage and some mods ... I want to drive one for a change! This one was just too perfect, and since I couldn't afford one in '89 I went looking for a 'new' one when I could. I have a couple of dozen cars that I want to own before they put me in a grave, and the TTA was one of them.

As far as dips in prices in the fall vs spring, that's really not at play in the ultra low mileage cars. People that will spend premium prices for certain cars aren't bother by things like summer vacations, their kids returning to school, cold vs hot weather, etc. I just sold an '82 Corvette Collector Edition (with 450 miles) for $45K - More than all the money for that car!

I agree on the sale of ultra low mileage TTAs. They are not impacted by seasonality.

I am the one who bought the 1210 mile tta from Mike and I am so excited about it. Can't wait to get it and smell that new tta smell.

I also have a 53k tta that has a blown head gasket, I was too lean and had too much boost. I'm in Edmonton AB Canada and would like to know if anybody know's a mechanic who could help me with that.

As far as 36k for Mikes car, I think it was a good price, I was gonna get a 100 mike car for 41k, plus shipping and then canadian tax, that would have ran me about 51k. I also got my usd's for par to the Canadian dollar today. So it's not really that bad :)
 
Hi, Jarred! I was planning to do a proper introduction for you to this forum ... But you beat me to it. Way too busy in CA this week. Can't wait to get back home. I know you are anxious to get the TTA too!

You'll love the 'new' TTA smell - The interior is this car is just amazing. Easily the nicest interior I've ever had in a collector car. Personally I think mid to high 30's for a documented 1K miles TTA is going to look like a bargain in a couple of years.

I'll probably regret selling it, but I have other things (mostly health bills for family) that make the cash more useful to me than the car is right now. I've only put 4 miles on that TTA since the spring of 2006 ... Amazing cars!!

Jarred is a super guy too. One of the best things about this hobby is the high quality people you meet. This is a good group of folks here at the TTA Forum. Jarred will fit in just fine! Just take good care of TTA #1130, and we'll always be friends :-)

ya you've got that right Mike, 1130 will be just fine here at my place. There are alot of good ppl here too with helpful info... I hope to find some info on a good mechanic in my area, but I am doubtful. :Not many guys here know tta.s and their motors. So if anyone has some insight to my Canadian situation it would be very appreciated :)
 
Congrats on your new ride ! Very nice car I must say, sorry you had to let it go Mike but sounds like it will be in really good hands!

Soon there's more TTA's in Canada then over on this side of the pond in Europe :worthy:

I agree with you Mike. I have only put 57 miles on my Hardtop in 3 1/2 years.

Wow the restraint you guys have amazes me, I know couldnt do it which is why I dont go for low mileage cars.
 
Funny you should say that ... It's easy for me not to drive them, because I'm rarely home, and when I am it's all about the wife and kids. Since my wife was diagnosed with MS, 'playtime' with cars has been a luxury not really available to us this year.

But of all the cars I have (or have had) in storage, the TTA is the only one I really itch to drive. The '82 Vette was super cool, but I had no desire to drive it. The '85 IROC is neat, but no desire to drive it. The Viper GTS was too tempting, so I sometimes did drive it. But the TTA is just too perfect, and too valuable in the near future. But man it was killing me NOT to drive that car. That's how I knew once again it was the most special one!

If the money works out, I'd like to pick up another one with a few more miles and not in such excellent shape. I'd even entertain some mods, because I know they are wickedly fast. I like sleepers :-) But modding this one was never going to happen, not on my watch at least. This car to me deserves to be pampered, and I'm hoping Jarred maintains its pampered ways. It's a small fortune waiting to happen, but things like MS tend to change priorities.
