I sourced a ring and pinion, used, off e-bay. Wasn't my first choice, but new 3.27 are near impossible to find. New gearsets are available and I think Yukon makes them or something...problem is they are 3.73(ish) and better suited for the N/A TPI guys....but that's an option too.
Lol I feel ya , just built it for my girl , so I doubt
She will be launching it , however when I drive it
Will be a different story , are there any direct bolt in replacements ?
Well, you have to consider that there is some proprietary stuff there. After all they cast the center section with the torque arm provision. Then add bigger axle tubes, much better axles with no C-clip.Better carrier, better ring and pinion. That stuff adds up quick. You could spend $1000 beefing up your 9 bolt with 7.75" ring gear and it still wouldn't be stronger than a GM 10 bolt with 8.5" ring gear.
Here you've got options for a much stronger rear end than the 8.5"...hell the super strength eaton carrier runs around $550 alone.
But a cruiser TTA would never need anything more. A racing one will.
