H/T cloth going thru Mecum Auction Oct 11th

All the b.s about Mecums new channel aside somebody got a smoking deal, that car should be worth twice that in 10yrs. It wasn't a great price but it was respectable... its a start.

We are a very small "elite" group. I know they made less GNX's, but those are followed and liked by the same people that like the basic GN's and Turbo Regals. It just is a more popular car, because they made a lot more of them and in multiple years. Besides, Rob, who gives a rat's a-- if others dont care about our TTA's. We like them, we own them, we drive them. Nothing else to say.:WOOT:

Does anyone know if they noted the rarity (1 of 15, as opposed to the whole 1500)?
That does seem like a good deal for a clean, very-low-mile TTA, especially HT/cloth...

Yeah, life is short, so enjoy your car. If you are relying on a possible future fortune to be relied upon on the purchase of a vehicle to pay-off in 30 years then your in need of fiscal counsel. Just do some double smokey burnouts.:headbang:

The money is not my point, its the recognition or lack of... we get to hear about a 69 camaro that even though they made 2 million of them, this particular one they only made 20k with a radio delete in this color w/ ac... do some more homework Bill Stephens...while i do a burnout...:cheers:
 
Wife loves the Turbo TA but think the TB/GN's are hideous looking. Both are my favorite and I can't imagine buying anything else to drive or show.

Don't what to say it guys and gals, those TB/GN's biggest issue is the rust. They rot. The stock paint used on the GN's were a lacquer type. Those cars had poor paint jobs from the factory. GM had unofficial recall on late 80's GM paint jobs. Rust in the bumber's, on the bottom of the passenger doors, quarter panels and under the rubber of the gas tank straps are common.
There is no rust at all on my Turbo TA :thumbup:

My cousin purchased a 87 GN new of the showroom floor and had it repainted a shortly after. Same awesome cousin sold me his Turbo TA almost 10 years ago. He much preferred the Turbo TA due to it's handling, braking and style.

Now, talk to me when I get much older and I might want a GN because they are easier to get in and out of. Availabilty of parts draws me most though.

As robert mentioned kymme, I was asking about the car Mike posted from Thursday, reserve at $13k that did not meet reserve, the link had no pics but a list of mods.
 
I looked through all of the results, there are a lot of nice cars that went on the cheap! Nice '73 Vette, nice all original appearing on the outside, did have a non-orign 355 motor, but done nicely went for only $7500! Nice '13 Camaro to Trans Am conversion went for $37k, tons of others.

Yep,there was a 64 chevy with twin turbo's 8-9sec. car @ a 70 formula firebird for less than 60k, both most likely had more than 200k in the build.... makes you think...:dumb:
 
my low mile 34k might seem high to others ran 13.2 1/4 on gator back factory tires. My other car is builit by merklel no times.. 7k long block
 
The other hardtop I mentioned that sold at Mecum some time ago had on the the window 1 of 24, so to answer that question if they knew the rarity of car, probably not. They were going with 1989 Pace car with 6,000 miles.
Here's the youtube video from Mecum for that car...the first thing guy says is this is the first year the pace car needed no modifications, not that it's a hardtop 1 of 15 produced...

and I really wish Sammy would redo this video using a 89 TTA, great song, turd of a car, that was his Ferrari in video. He also owned a 79 TA plates I EAT Z28 and song Trans Am wonderland. One of my favorite songs to have on in TTA...might get a yellow jumpsuit, blonde wig and a video camera and do it myself...

the only disagreement I have with the last comment made on last video is that the price was 31,000 and they didn't sell. I remember people paying upwards of $40,000 for a TTA...and that you couldn't get one?

I agree, and if someone pulls up beside me running more than 3.4 0-60 they will get their feelings hurt.
 
The 2nd video that TURBOGTA posted made me laugh…"this is one of the highly optioned TTAs"….highly as in 2 :D I guess the announcer thought that made it more rare.
 
The car they used in back to the future with the FLUX capacitor or the Ghostbusters cadillac ambulance would get more attention and they would know everything about those cars...and Dana Mecum the guy with the mustache and ball cap, all he cares about is M O N E Y

I got no details of it being a PR car however looking at the dealer codes it was shipped to and where the invoice was sent it was most likely used by Pontiac for some purpose and not sold to the general public. And being such a early build along with when all festival cars (and other PR cars) where ordered I'm sure this one was used by GM/Pontiac initially.

Would be interesting to see any paper work that comes with the car.
