Tail light emblem

I just picked this up off of Ebay - it was advertised as an original TTA emblem that was removed years ago. I don't know how to tell if it is real or not, but it is in great condition.
I just need some advice on removing the rear emblem without doing any damage to the tail light.
 
Looks very nice, hard to say from the picture if it's original or not ...

Try using a fishing line or similar and see if you can get that in behind the old bird then try to cut down behind it carefully ... some of them come off pretty easily depending on how the car been stored over the years.

You can get new double sided tape correctly cut from carmotorsports.com

One thing you can do is compare all details, shape etc, to your old emblem and if it looks to be identical I would say it's a OEM emblem as the aftermarket ones would not be 100% identical but very very close (one of them much better than the other out there ...).
 
Looks good, Haven't replaced on here yet. Does it still have the old emblem tape on the back? Are you going to have to get new tape for it?
 
It still has some residue from the original emblem tape on it. I am going to get the tape that Jan linked to from Car Motorsports. It just sucks that I have to pay 3.95 for the part and 4.95 for shipping. I read on here that the repros have too much curve to them. Is that true? I compared it to the one on there and it looks the same, both in design of the bird, and the amount of curvature they both have. I think it is an original emblem.
 
Yes, the Repos have too much curvature. You will have to heat and flatten them. Poor on CAR Motorsports part to issue a non-fitting logo. Another reason I sold my interest, didn't want to correct issues.

Only the carmotorsports.com rear taillight emblem .. not the one from gtaemblems.com (Classic Industries sell these for instance) as they are spot on :cheers:
