a few pics of the local car show, the yellow vette beside me said if i got enough orders he could make us some custom hood insulators if enough people wanted them, he has a machine that made the stuff on the vette in the pics , i really like that 409 impala

From my restoration and show days, the one thing I never understood is why someone goes to great lengths to be as correct as possible in detail, of restoring thier car(s).

Yet at what seems like the last detail, they go ahead and put a cheezy Autozone battery in it. Or some no-name walmart tires on them....it's not like reproduction batteries aren't available...nor tires.

I just don't get it.

im with you on that, dont make any sense. neither does some dip-shit in a 2003 mustang winning best in show out of all the old nice cars there, im still seeing red over that one. btw, i bet i heard a hundred times, where in the hell did you get that car? (tta) :jaw:

You would hate my battery in the TTA. It is one of those green Interstate batteries. I never thought about getting the correct battery. Is it available?

Sorry for bitching. When I download files that large, it takes too long and sometimes locks up the laptop with a timeout error. I'll just have to move to the hardwired desktop computer. It's ok, the burden is on me. Apologies.
 
Speaking of car shows, I went to one yesterday in Fruit Cove Springs Fl.
A bunch of cars there, I had the only TTA and only third-gen there. Forgot to take pics.

Anyway was talking to a guy that bought a TTA a few yrs ago, he bought it off a carlot in Mississippi he said it had 40,000 miles on it. It was a stock car and he got it for 7,500. That was a heck of a deal.

He later sold it to the guy that works on my car in Georgia. He also sold him a T-Type Buick which the guy in Georgia put a Stage 2 motor and made a 600hp racecar.

i still need to figure it out , takes forever to download and it will only do two pics at a time. as far as the battery is concerned the dealership should have one that looks correct, but after reading about all the electrical issues on here i think i will stick with my optima batt

Only 600? Pretty wimpy to go to all the expense and complexity of a Stage 2 engine.
 
most of the people there did'nt know the tta even existed, much less seen one. one guy said man, you dont see many of them around anymore, i said hell you did'nt see many of them when they were new, lol

Thumbs up on Optimas. I've been using them for 15 years in all my cars. No liquid acid spillage to rot out the battery tray.

I thought they were rare at one time. Then in July this year I took this picture at a dragstrip in Ohio...

A week ago at another show someone said he see a TTA on the west side of town, somebody is using it for a daily driver. I bet it is only a GTA for sure.

Another guy said I remember when they came out the Pontiac dealer here in town had a bunch of them lined up. Don't believe that one too. From my understanding only a select number of dealers had these cars. And maybe one or two of them.

I made a mistake, it is a Stroker Motor no a Stage 2 motor.:bash:

Yeah, lol, mine has a walmart battery! Was in it when I bought the car, when it goes I will be replacing it with something a liitle more classy.
 
Overcharging can boil liquid acid based batteries, create acidic vapors and spillage. Every car that I've ever had for an extended period of time eventually developed a rusty battery tray because of that. The first thing I did when I bought my TTA 3 years ago was to dump the liquid-acid based Interstate battery that it came with, recondition and paint the corroded battery tray as best I could and replace the battery with a "paste-acid" based sealed Optima. No more caustic vapors or leaks - and there never will be.
