Goodyear GS-D3 tires discontinued... What's a good replacement?

My tires are bald and when I went to order another set of the GS-D3s, well, I couldn't. Any similar tires out there for a daily driven TTA?
 
BFGoodrich g-Force Sport on tire rack. I bought 2 of these for the front and drag radials for the back.

They are a directional tire and z rated. No doubt the Gator back is the best looking tire ever, but the BFG G force is a close second. You cant beat the price either!! I can send photos if need be.:cheers:
 
i'm sorry, they feel great on road. Man it's like I have air in the tires compared to the Gators!
 
It doesn't look like they make any of these tires in a 245/50/16 unfortunately.
Yokohama avs es100s seem pretty cheap with fairly good reviews, I might try 4 of those.
 
Ive thought about it off an on but havent made my mind up id say they have atleast about 90 % tread left
 
GOODYEAR GS-D3's ARE NOT discontinued!!!

They are out of stock and will return in april. Some of the sizes are being discontinued but not our size. The reason they are not discontinuing our size is because they decided not to make our size in the next generation tire, so they will continue to sell it to us in the gs-d3 configuration. They released a list of sizes of GS-D3 that were going to continue production. If I can find it I will post it.
 
April is not far away..can't wait till april???

The car deserves the goodyears. GSD3 is the nearest decendent of the original tires. ZR50>GSC>F1 GS>F1 GSD3

And for the rest of the group, I sent this to the op in a private message and though part of it might be of value. (having put 400,000 miles on 3 tta's over a 15 yr period, I have a lot of empirical study of the situation.)

I have had trouble with tires vibrating at 70 to 80mph on tta's, and the only ones that I have had that didn't vibrate at all were the goodyear gsc's. Moot point here I know. (after the gsc's I used Eagle F1 GS, but they were the worst tires ever! Got rid of them when they were new and lost much money!)

Also, something we have now, that we did not have in the old days was the Hunter Road Force Balancer machine. With that, vibration problems can be cured. It balances the tires while they have the weight of a car on them and then move the tires low spot to the rim high spot. It cancels vibrations. I had a new cadillac with new michelin tires that vibrated and this method cured it. Nothing would have cured that car's trouble and if this machine could do it it can certainly fix the minor trouble the tta's have with vibration.

I have had bad times with Dunlop, Eagle F1GS, Kumho and Hankook.

Good times with
Goodyear GSD, ZR50, and GSC
Cooper, Michelin, Pirelli, continental, and BFG

I was surprised that the coopers ran like michelins for 1/3 the price. Have put coopers on 6 cars and perfect on all. They always were the cheapest available too.
 
I would wait if I could, but I'm through the rubber completely in areas. As long as the Coopers aren't as horrendous as the Sumitomo HTR Zs I had, they should be fine for the time being.
 
Bah, Discount Tire is saying they don't make the Coopers anymore. Tire rack doesn't have them either. Some places I've never heard of seem to have them listed under Google shopping, but I dunno how reliable that is.
 
No, I bought mine from a local independent tire dealer. Maybe try Cooper's website and use the dealer locator.

Or go old school and use the yellow pages to find a tire shop near you that carries or can get Coopers.

If your sure you want these I'll ask my local shop if they will ship them, I thought they shipped motorcycle tires and I know he shipped the old Gatorbacks to someone after I took them off the TTA.
 
I called a Cooper dealer near me and they confirmed what discount tire said. Zeon 2xs is discontinued. I'm gonna try some Yokohama AVS ES100s, see how they do. Those, at least, are available.
 
I really like the Firestone Firehawk Wide Ovals. Really nice and sticky for the street. The tread pattern looks great on our cars.

Well, I can only tell you what I did.

I've used Goodyear and Firestone, now I have Nitto's front and rear. My rears are drag radials the fronts are street radials. The last time I checked, the Firehawks were not being made in 16's anymore, I could be wrong though. Just don't buy cheap s***. I've had some experiance with that path. Dunlaps suck the big one.
 
I had some cheaper Sumitomos that were just awful. The Sumitomos aren't too bad, but they can't match the Goodyears in performance. I wish I could run drag radials, but I drive it way too much and in the rain as well.
