There is a campground right next to the track as well! I don't know how that is but I've seen a few people stay at that one. Just jump over the fence in the morning! lol

2011 Pontiac Turbo Trans Am Reunion! Hebron, Ohio 7/30/2011

Just confirmed Muscle Car Review magazine will be attending the event! They will be shooting pictures and doing an article on the event! You and your car could be famous!
They want to do some shots of the TTA's going up against some of the T-types! Race and show! Bring em out and shine em up!
I have some other publications lined up and when I confirm them I'll post em up. A once in a life time event like this deserves all the coverage!
I also got a neat phone call today. A TTA owner (car 915) from Florida found a ad of the event in one of his local Pontiac news letters that gets mailed out. (I reached out to most of the Pontiac clubs all over the country) He is going to drive his TTA up to the event from Florida. He has no internet access or a PC for that matter! This small add was all he found. Always amazes me how many folks are not on the web and don't even own a PC out there and still rely on paper media. He went on to tell me he's going to drag a few other TTA owners in Florida up to the event as well! July can't get here fast enough!

Just some updates for you guys....
As you know this event is called the TTA reunion and T party. Meaning this track is so big the event will consist of not only the 89 TTA reunion but a Buick T type / limited party as well. The reason we did this was to make this event one huge event for not only the TTA owners and enthusiasts, but because most TTA owners own Buick T types, limiteds, and or Grand Nationals. So the guys working on the T type Limited end of the event also have some special guest coming that had a lot to do with the making and development of this amazing 3.8 turbo charged V6 we all love. So here is an update as far as the Buick folks that will be attending and doing some speaking at the event...
Dennis Manner the father of the Stage 1 engine and renowned Buick engineer has assisted me in helping to locate the Buick engineers who were most instrumental in these cars, whose credence was "Bad to the Bone.” Dennis will be attending as will his close friend Joe Guzek. Joe’s resume reads like this: “Major designer of all major GM muscle car wheels including Gran Sports and GNs and countless others. Remarkable guy, owns multiple 60s Buicks and turbo regals and also owns a 1 of 1 color (metallic orange ) 1970 stage 1 4 speed (finally found the correct looking color; hoping to have it painted and he said he hopes to drive it down for '11 event with Manner as they are very close friends).
In addition, 4 other engineers, synonymous with Buick Performance will be attending, bringing with them never before seen photos, documentation, materials, books, and articles showing the initial stages of testing, r and d work, racing and production which turned the 231 v6 from an oil puking 6 cylinder to a fire breather turbocharged and intercooled motor that became the power plant of choice not only in Grand Nationals and Turbo Regals, but TTAs, GNXs and became the forefather of the 4.3 block used in the Syclone and Typhoon. From its early history and initial builds to its Nascar heritage (hence the name Grand National), to its domination of the streets and tracks beginning in 1986 with added turbo charging and intercooling, these engineers will present to all Buick enthusiasts the rich history of the 231 v6 and the history of the Turbo Regal. 4 more personnel are in talks with myself about attending and they are confirming with myself and the BPG as we speak. When they officially confirm we will announce it here and on other sites. Their resumes read like this:
1. GM Service Writer. Wrote all the service manuals for all the turbo regals, owned a t type brand new in 85, owns an 85 race car and 87 Turbo T. Has rare never before seen assembly manuals, documents and photos of the "G body cars" and some rare GNX and turbo regal photos.
2. He took over as supervisor of the Turbo Group from 1986-87! He said he has several stories about the race between Buick and the Turbo 3.8 vs Chevrolet and the 350/305 engine for their Corvettes that he says TR enthusiasts will enjoy as well as other stories of the 3.8 engine development. Also has some rare stories about NASCAR and how Grand National came to be coined in name.
3. He was in charge of Buick's Advanced Vehicle Concepts and is considered one of the main reasons the GNX came to be in existence. He stated he will bring photos, documentation and literature on everything he can find including the famous shootout between the Calloway 350 Vette and the GNX prototypes that put the GNX on the map.
4. Was at Buick from 1967 through the late 90s. Instrumental in the early turbocharger years, also developed first prototype intercooled/turbocharged car prior to 1986 when the 86/87 were just about to be release. Also worked as head of Buick Motorsports when they terrorized Indy with their 3.8 turbo engines winning the Indy pole many years in a row. Also developed FWD Supercharged 3800s of late 90s and early 2000s and instrumental in getting Buick get the Grand National name for use in its production car and also some funny stories about the front spoiler with the GN/T Types being produced on the street for a NASCAR advantage! Good Story, I’ll let him tell it! Very technical guy about the turbo charger and super good guy! Hopefully will have some paperwork and documentation from the early days, as he is going to start hunting for it as we speak!
As I said before, the above individuals were committed a few months ago and now we are finalizing details. Once that happens their names will be revealed for all to see. For now we will let the mystery wait on....
This event is really shaping up to be one not to miss and a huge part of history not only for the 1989 Pontiac Turbo Trans Am owners and enthusiasts, but for anyone who is into these 3.8 turbo charged V6 engines.

We are working with some people at Indy now to have the car in the museum trailered to the event! Keep your fingers crossed on that one. 
And on our list of speakers at the event we just found a guy who worked as engineer for Buick and was one of 7 people transferred to work on TTA project! So we may have him there speaking as well!

We are going to have some specialty awards and yes that is one of them. :clap: From the nicest to the rattiest ones! Some of them were driven and enjoyed just like what you should do with a car! So those guys have a chance to win as well. They did that award at the GS event there last year and there was some really bad ones that came in on a trailer. But it's all about the cars and being together once again! So we want them all to come out even if they are in pieces and don't run! Push it on a trailer and bring it on out! Someone sent me an e-mail they are driving up from Texas. The car has 300K on it! Daily driven. We will have the high mileage and the lowest mileage as well. Check the start of the reunion thread for the rest of the awards.

As we lock in more speakers for this event I'll keep posting them up here.
We recently locked in Wayne Sherman. Wayne was one of 7 people allocated from Flint from Buick to help with the TTA and was one of the final people to carry out the legacy of the Buick Grand National will be in attendance. We are also in contact with several other people who did everything from set up the DEA/FBI Turbo Regals, Computer Programming, AE Piston Design, 3.8 Prototype Engine Builder and several others directly involved with different facets of the TTA and Turbo Regals!
Just the cast of talent that is going to be at this event is worth the admission price alone! I can assure you guys this cast of people involved with these cars will NEVER all be together in one place again! You do not want to miss this event!

** Ron Yuile- Took over Turbo V6 program at Buick from Ronald Kociba. Ron Kociba is good friends with Ronald Yuille so he will talk to him for me about having him attend and thinks Yuille will attend. Kociba and Yuille both helped develop the intercooled/turbocharged 3.8 popularized in 1986/1987, Kociba was the main guy to initiate it, and Yuille took it over in its prime years. Denny said it will take time but he should be able to get Yuille to come and if he cant get Wallace he is going to be contacting him others he told me, just give me time!
* Denny Manner - a performance minded Buick engineer, created the original proposal for the Stage 2 package. With a long list of upgrades including special heads, a 7,000 rpm camshaft and valve train, 11.0:1 compression ratio utilizing special TRW pistons, deep groove pulleys, a 4.30 posi-traction rear end and more, he knew he could create a record breaker that would certainly put Buick on the map at tracks nationwide. Using racers Pop Kennedy and Jim Bell, (think Kenne-Bell), he was able to gather real data by testing these parts on the track.

I phoned the HOST HOTEL. No more rooms available. I've been placed on the waiting list. If I get the call, I'll be at the event with at least one of the Prototypes in tow. I will need to reside at the Host Hotel for security purposes.

there is mo trailer parking at host hotel but at a car lot 400' away...best bet is to leave at track overnite as no vehicle/trailer can be removed without id

They have many locations where they store the old race & pace cars and not many people get a chance to visit those areas. Some are off site in special garages i was told last time I visited.

Well I didn't want to post about the cars condition at the Indy museum but the TTA that is there does not run. It might even be in storage where you can't see it somewhere. She has been neglected for the most part. In fact I don't think it's ran since 1989! :eeks: Scott Kelly is going to go down there in the coming weeks and see if he can get the car out and running again. We are trying to work a deal that Scott comes down to get the car running just so it can come to the event. We are working on the paper work currently but Indy liked the idea the poor old gal will come alive again and actually be around her brothers and sisters again where she belongs! :thumbup: So stay tuned!
We are working with some people at Indy now to have the car in the museum trailered to the event! Keep your fingers crossed on that one.
I keep hearing that there is a car at Indy. I was just there 3 weeks ago and did not see it. Do they store it somewhere when it is not on display in the museum, or do they not have it in the hall of fame museum???
I did however check out all the great photos they had upstairs though. picked up a couple too. highly recommend it if anyone ever visits the museum.
Apparently in storage along with many other cars ... any chance you could scan and share the photos you picked out? What was the turnaround getting those photos @ the museum, plan to go there just before or just after the re-union but wont have much time to wait for photos to be done if it takes a number of days :-(

Not wise for me to leave any of the Prototype vehicles exposed overnight. I will accept indoor storage or it will be a no show for me and the rare ones. If Jim can turn me toward indoor storage contacts for the cars, then I'll be there. It really is a shame that the event has no indoor facilities. Every top notch show I attend has some type of indoor viewing area / venue. Really disappointing in this case.
