Value of 11k mile TTA w/Stage 2 engine???

Guys,

Years ago I had a TTA and unfortunately had to sell it. I've missed it ever since...

Now I have a chance to buy another TTA, but this one has only 11k original miles on it. Additionally, it has a fully built Buick on-center Stage II (the real deal with Stage II Buick heads and intake...not the champion stuff, but early model stuff) engine with a Turbonetics 88mm turbo on it. It a t-top car with leather interior that is in perfect condition. Paint is perfect as well. Fully built Rossler 200r4 transmission with a Neal Chance converter. 12 bolt rearend with Wilwood brakes at all corners. Ladder bar thing like what the GNX came with (I forget what this is called).

Car will come with the box that has all the stickers, supplemental manual, etc... Also has the original engine in plastic wrapper with original turbo, intercooler, etc... I will get all this with the purchase.

Anyway, what do you think this car is worth? I'm going back and forth right now with the owner. I have a dollar figure in mind that I think is fair, but I'm interested to hear what those of you who have followed these cars for a while might say regarding this cars potential value.

Any help is appreciated!

There is a low mileage (16K) TTA for sale on Autotrader Classics. Asking price $26, 500. Its not a built engine though, all orig and it doesnt mention the owners kit. Dont know if that will help you with a comparision, but thought I would mention it.

You have to think about what it would cost you to buy an 11k mile TTA and then a stage motor. THose are both two high price items. I think it is awsome that you get original turbo motor and intercooler and owners box. If I was only gonna have one tta I would want this car. I can't tell you what it is worth, but even the rear end and brakes are gonna be a chunk of money.

And someone has done all the work for you!!! car is already built!!! sounds like a fun purchase. Let us know how you make out.

Jarred.

Is this that car that was on eBay a few years back that was built for someone to race across Nevada or something? Original motor was pulled and put on a stand and a stage II motor and all sorts of stuff were installed for the race. Sounds really familiar.

I guess not since I found the pictures of the car I was thinking about. Opps!

Hmmm, Steve (TTA850) had a car that was formerly run in the Silver State Classic if I'm not mistaken. Not sure where that fits into the picture but I do remember it being mentioned in some small articles back in the day and a glimpse of it on a video.

Mike, I noticed you are from Schaumburg. I used to live in Schaumburg and in fact, had my TTA back then. I was there in the late 90s. I sold my TTA to a guy who worked at the time for Autotrader or maybe it was Trading Times.

When I sold the car it had 89k miles, te44 turbo, walbro pump, ATR chip, ATR 3 inch down pipe and exhaust. You won't happen to know the guy who bought the car would you? Maybe you are the guy! I can't remember his name, but I sure remember watching him drive off in my car and thought I was going to cry.

That car was sweet because all the ATR stainless downpipe, exhaust, ect... I got for free right from ATR. They used my car to develop that stuff and gave it to me free for letting them use the car. In fact, if any of you have any old ATR catalogues, the TTA in the pictures displaying all that stuff was mine:thumbup:

Sounds like Jon B, used to work for Tradin' Times. He sold the car and hasn't been on any of the boards for quite a while.

Sorry, but I do not know of that car, but Ron is a pretty smart fellow, so I am sure that info he gave you was correct. I did have a 72K mile leather car and now I have a 25K mile cloth car with the strobes, so I am sure those aren't your old car.

Good luck on your search and I still miss #733 that is way up in Edmonton, Canada with Jarred.

Ron, I believe you are correct. As I recall his name was Jon. Sorry to hear he sold the car. Maybe I'll run into it again some day.

$22K IMO.

Wow. Really? I thought the value would be higher than that considering just the value of a fully built Buick Stage II engine is... Are you aware of what a fully built Stage II engine is worth these days? How about one of these cars with only 11k miles? I'm not saying you are wrong, but this just seems low to me. But perhaps the market has changed for these cars.

Maybe you are right... I don't know for sure, but I'm curious to see if others agree with you're assessment. If anyone ought to have a good grasp on the actual value of these cars right now its the guys who hang out on this board.

ps. before anyone posts "value is what someone is willing to pay" save your fingers from typing that. I want to know what the market says about this car with these types of mods right now. It could be that the market for the stage II stuff isn't there like it used to be. I really don't know since I've been out of the scene for quite some time...

NADA:

1. Market sucks currently
2. A unmodified TTA will always bring more $$$, even if you throw in a twin turbocharged motor, it's still modified. It would probably bring more put back to stock.
3. 11K miles isn't stellar, Lot of TTA's out there with lower mileage. Once they have over 3K, it's the same as one with 30K miles.

But hopefully you can buy this car for cheaper. Offer them $16K

I think its worth around 25k. your could put the car back to stock and sell it in the 16-20k range and sell the 12 bolt/motor/brakes ect for another 5k+, so 25k for the whole package sounds reasonable to me.

Ratfink does have a point about the current market though. I've seen some smokin' deals on collector cars on local forums.

wow sub 3k for 16.5!!!! that is great!!!! I know of a 3k car selling but the guy wanted like 35k and I told him no way!!!!

I think that given the cost of a stage motor and if the car is a clean clean 11k I would pay up to 28k for it. But that is just me, and cars sell for more in Canada right now compared to USA.

And Mike TTA 733 is AWSOME!!.. You can come up and visit and take her for a drive anytime you like.

Jarred.

Yes, that would be a cold time Ron. I will tell you what Ron, you can come up from Atlanta, GA and we can cruise to Edmonton together to take #733 for a spooling. Did somebody say Road Trip? LOL

Glad you are happy with it Jarred and hope to see you at the TTA Lovefeast next year.

OH ya I'll be there at the lovfeast lol. Ya it is nice and cold up here and the TTA is a f*#~ing rocket!! Lucky for me there is no snow, but its comin. Drove tta 733 last night for about an hour, was all cleaned up, man it looked good. I just can't get enough of these cars.

Fully built & running Stage II motor with GM Stage II heads alone should be worth an easy $25K all day long IMO. To build it, its what $50K +/- when you add in all the extra's (exhaust, fuel, intake, turbo etc). Anything around $50K is reasonable if that is what kind of car you are looking for.

Just my opinion.

(I thought I read about this the other day on another board that they wanted $32K - )

Do you have a link to that other board where this was discussed?

BTW, that's quite a different opinion than the one guy earlier in this thread who actually said the car was worth maybe $16k....lol

The car is not worth $50k. A modded car will never be truly valued though either.

To me, it is worth more than a stock one. To others that is blasphemy.

I bet there are more stock tta's of any milage than there are fully built stage2 tta's. I like the modded cars cause I like to drive fast.
