What is best tta race car rear end?

wow 1.3 60', that is a launch!! My car has a best of 1.6 60' I don't think I'll ever get it to 1.3. Geez.

When is it time to upgrade to a new rear end?? Or should I just wait until mine breaks?

Personally, I am going to wait till my rear end shatters then replace it. I know that will be next August. My stock rear end is going right to the metal recycler. No reason to take a working rear end there. So unless you want it for originality, leave it be!

Do you rip around corners or putz around parking lots? I've driven two spooled cars and they were awful. Maybe different brands?

A spool has both axles locked. Usually when you go around a corner, the outside wheel needs to turn faster then the inside wheel. With a spool, both axles are turning the same speed, so the car kind of hops and skids around corners. It is mainly just for racing.

For a full race car I'd go with a spool, 35 spline or bigger axles, and aerospace brakes.

For a fast street car I'd go Wavetrac diff, 35 spline axles, and reuse stock brakes (or to save a few bucks an Eaton posi and 33 spline axles like I have in my GTA)

I didnt suggest which type of rear, becuase I think it's a matter of preference. Many will say 9" is better but I've seen 12 bolts hold up to 4 figure rear wheel horsepower with no issues and I prefer the 12 bolt (it's what I have in my GTA and '98 T/A).

HTH,
Steve
