TTA Diecast

i dont understand... did they not have pictures to go by? who made the decision to go with black seatbelts? that makes no sense. :furious:

to be honest I don't know, the coloring of everything didn't get to go through as many revisions. Sort of like judging by the pictures they didn't change the light grey color, it's too light.

Also, like Mike posted be careful with the models they're pretty fragile. They're not made to be played with.

hrm... i guess ill have to be careful poking around it then. i wanna see all the details they added.

well just keep in mind a lot of it is plastic. I can say that the bottom of the car is probably my favorite part, not because it was modeled off my car. That was the first part done and Matt the guy who was originally working on the car did an awesome job on it.

Took a few pics of the one I got. Take a look here... http://turbobuicks.net/gallery2/v/Philly/TTA+349/TTA+Diecast/

For being made in China I guess you can't ask for better. I don't know what they were thinking with that stubby antenna. And they went out of the way to paint the locks silver on the doors. Those could have been black. Other then that not to bad all in all..

They do look great. The black seat belts, the missing t-top bag and the antenna is the most annoying bits looks like. Mine are shipping out this or next week I've been told, I got 3 of them coming along with the black and red GTA's.

Can you remove the antenna bit as the GTA's don't have it, also would you be able to remove the strobe lights in the rear spoiler and get a red 3rd brake light in there like on the GTA's? This way they would look like my TTA!

The antenna can be extended & retracted, though not extended very far. It retracts all the way down though. It cannot be removed unless you force it, and then who knows what the first thing to break would be? As far as the lights, looks like you'll have to acquire another GTA just to steal the entire rear hatch and do some painting. The lights are molded right into the spoiler, which is molded right to the decklid behind the hatch window, and the decklid appears to be glued or melted to the window.

Someone on 3gen has car number 693 if someone is looking for that. I'm tryin to start threads on all the boards out there in case anyone gets them. I think what is going to happen is we are all going to get every car number but the ones we are looking for! Those are all gonna wind up in toy shops! :(

That would suck - but, I guess if that's what happens - there's not much I can do about it, ya know?

I'm sure there will be a few lucky guys on this board that will end up with their #

:D

The worst part is some of the 3rd gen owners are buying TTA's and painting them the color of their GTA so they have a GTA with T tops! :( That's why it's important to get the word out!

is anyone else really dissapointed in the quality of their models? aside from the back seat belts, no t top bag, and stubby antenna, ive also noticed on mine at least that there is no center brake light, really crappy paintwork on the drivers door and rear left panel, a peeling mirror sticker, and no fog lights, just holes. its garbage.

keep in mind what you paid for the car. For the number that we produced and the price that they're selling them at with everyone taking their cut before they get to the customer I bet you they aren't making that much profit off of them, this isn't a $120 GMP model. I don't think some of you realize how much it costs to build a model. I asked a friend who works for Johnny Lightning how much it would cost to have a TTA built for us. He said that since it probably wouldn't fit into one of their series that you would be looking at about 60-80k just to have the dies made then you have the cost to have them run and that's for a 1:64 which has very little detail.

However, in ways I do agree, but for different reasons and about different things. What I'm disappointed about is the things that I pointed out that needed to be changed, I told them I would rather see things missing then to have the incorrect parts in them.

You guys keep bitching about the t-top bag, I didn't think it was that big of a deal since some people take the bags out of their cars.

that doesnt change the fact that a few simple fixes would have made this a much better model. the t top bag isnt that big of a deal to me. im going to try to make a couple fixes to mine, such as the mirror sticker, center brake light, and paint. that would leave me with 2 other big gripes. the black seat belts and missing fog lights.

The black seatbelts piss me off too because I asked them to leave them out or change them, but like I said earlier I'll be looking for tan replacement material and can send it to anyone wanting to try to switch. I'm not sure on the fog lights since I didn't look at them that closely to be honest.

the fog lights looked normal at first, then on closer inspection i noticed it didnt actually have any. then on even CLOSER inspection i noticed that it did, they were just really clear :dumb:

depending on how easy it is to make and switch those seatbelts, that may be the only thing i really have left to gripe about :)

I'll start by saying that I'm ecstatic about even having a TTA to add to my diecast collection and I'm very pleased with it for the price I paid. I retracted the antenna all the way into the fender so it looks "right". Did you know the 1:18 GMP Buicks that command such high prices don't even have a "bump" on the fender to represent a retracted power antenna? The 1:24 GMPs at least have the bump there. Furthermore, even though the 1:24 GMPs have opening hood, trunklid, and doors with excellent detail as seen in the photos I posted the 1:18 GMPs only have an opening hood--no doors or trunklid, and the detail isn't so great. Yeah, the paint is a bit shabby on the hood of my TTA but I'll live. The seatbelts are the wrong color but I'm OK with that too. I might do a bit of detailing on mine such as painting the door locks black, removing the foglight lenses and painting the part behind them silver and reinstalling the lenses, and painting in a third brakelight (did the actual pace car(s) that this model represents even have a third brakelight or was it removed when they installed the strobes?) Lastly, I couldn't care less about the t-top bag since it's a loose (and therefore easily removed) item on the real car anyway. Instead, I'm pleased to see that they glued a piece of felt to the dashboard to represent the map pocket. Probably the main thing I would have liked to see different about this model is 2 seperate t-tops. I mean, I have a diecast 1:24 1986 IROC Camaro that has seperate removable t-tops. All in all though, I think Greenlight did a pretty good job.

They are new and most of us are anal that's why we are picking them apart. For a car made in China I think it's not that bad at all. Considering most of the stuff that comes out of China is crap. I think once they run out of these and everyone has then the price will keep climbing when you get new TTA owners down the line and when you get die cast collectors finding out about them who may have missed them. I didn't even know about the antenna going down! I'll have to try that. I just thought that's odd to have it half mast! But yea like Mike said.. I have every GN die cast there is and none of them have a movable antenna! They also don't even make a t top GN! So all in all I think it worked out well. Now we hoard them run the market dry and collect! lol I have another 5 coming today!

#'s dammit, #'s! :D

pleasssssssssssssssssssse get 1491!

im new to the model car world so maybe chipped paint and a few mismatched things are normal for a $50 car o.0

dont get me wrong, its definitely a cool thing to have, it just really bothers me that someone could look at pictures of these cars with tan seatbelts, and decide to install black ones.

i suppose ill live with it, though. its a really cool car and has a lot of positive points that have been mentioned.

im kinda suprised everyone is opening theirs. i opened mine cuz thats just what i do, but arent they so much more valuable when never opened? or is that why yall are ordering 5 or 10 each? :D

I opened mine for the same reason, that's just what I do. I don't collect diecast cars to resell later down the road to make a buck; I buy them because I really appreciate them and that's a little harder to do with a box. Sure, I'm very careful about opening them so as not to damage the box but then the box gets stashed in my attic and the model goes in a display case on a shelf. Every single one of my GMP models is out of the box and prominently displayed in my living room (to my wife's chagrin), except my "Tweaked" model since it got busted--that one's a bit hidden in the back of the shelf now!

The 4 i have are #1453 #1543 #1550 #1558 . Looking for #299 & 1397 !

As fas as opening how would you know what # car it was ? All one would need is a circle piece of clear tape to make it look unopend .... its not like everyone rips ino the box like a 4yr old

One of the sides doesnt have tape. Open that side.
