WTB: Both front seat belt receivers

Looking for both right and left front seat belt receivers, preferably in tan, but black would work too. Hard parts to find as they always crack, mine are terrible in #1040. I have only been able to find them at one place and they are new but only in med grey. For $145 each, they could at least dye them in the color you want. I refuse to order from this website though as they continue to rip you on everything. The $145 doesn't even include shipping, shipping is probably another $145 like they do on the spoilers.:explosion:

Don't want to Hijack your thread, I needed a pin for my convertible TA that locks top in place. I called and talked to Bruce and he wanted $99 for the kit. I told him I only needed pin. Couldn't just sell pin.

Months later he emails because his friend let him know I have a SLP dual cold air intake used on 91-92 Firehawks. He wanted to know If i wanted to sell it...

Not hijacking at all, it was a major point of the post.

I hope you sold it to for $1500 and charged him another $1000 for shipping.... Lol

You've told this story before, so I'll tell you mine.

I too have a convertible and I too was needing 1 pin. So I scoured for months and months till a complete pair of latches/pins came up on e-bay. I paid almost $300 to get them to my door. So $99 sounds fair to me.

I guess a guy with a restoration business that caters to us 3rd,4th gen guys doesn't deserve to make money....to pay employees, buy cars to part out, pay utilities,insurance ,taxes,advertising,and on and on.And spend money on R&D to reproduce window switches,interior pieces,seat covers....that stuff all comes free doesn't it.

I guess you taught him a lesson you'll never forget.

I agree 100 percent with Rich on this one, having owned and run a business for over 7 yrs now i know it take's money to make money; if i have 500k go through my bus.acct it took 400k to make it.I'm trying to find my invoice for the rear spoiler from Classic. ind. but i'm pretty sure they charged me over $350 to ship oversize to GA. and the paint shop bitched about the amount of prep-work. as far as Hawk's goes, if i think they are over-priced on something i simply don't buy it, but maybe they have somethig else i need... at the right price.
 
I have a business also, and you spend money (lots) to make money. With someone like Hawks, they have a niche market and not too much competition so that leaves the door open. As for their prices, if you are in the middle of a resto amd you need something unique or odd you either pay or keep looking. I've ordered a few things from them and have been satisfied.
 
I bought the pin and a few extra from a hardware supplier...I think it cost me $2.75 a piece. If you look around you can find simple things like cotter pins. Hawks didn't engineer pins.

There you go, simple keep looking, thats why i L O V E parts cars(nice ones not junk) i have 4-acres to hide stuff, they can save you a good bit of money over time... :yes:
 
I meet the owner at a car show in Darlington dragway about 4 -5 yrs ago when he put his first ls1 in a third gen ...Id like to make the haul down to his shop oneday to check it out...
I always spoke to BJ his whife when ordering parts
 
One thing this first project of mine has taught me is PATIENCE!!!!!! Slowly but surely it is almost ready to be painted. After my rant on here about the crazy seatbelt prices and scouring the web for a year, I finally hit the jackpot within one week. A guy on third gen was parting out an 89 GTA and I got a mint shifter plate and Leather Wrapped steering wheel for $100 total. The steering wheel shows a little wear, but cleaned right up and no tears at all. I also took Jan's tip of how to repair the center console, and it worked like a charm. AWESOME. Then the same day I started this rant about the seat belts, I found some used/mint black ones again on Third gen, a guy was parting out his 1989 GTA, $39 total for both. I can live with Black on RAYDER since it is heavily modded already. I'll post pictures of them installed when I get them. I am glad I held off a bit longer on the Modern Muscle beachwood set, still have it in my favorite list though if I ever need any more. Next up is fixing the gas sending unit so it reads in the car again and then RAYDER is ready for PAINT. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

:idea5:Oh yea, if anyone is wondering about the slide in cup holder, probably one of the best and for sure cheapest mod to my TTA's. Pick it up from AUTOZONE for $5, plus it just slides in, so you can pop it out quickly and hide for cruise nights and shows. Holds two drinks and your cell phone/wallet/change in the middle. Haven't spilled a drink yet.

Yes it came with cloth. Might sound crazy, but I think the cloth is actually more comfortable than the leather one. I had the wide band and Alki installed when it was tuned.

Don't sound crazy at all, i have always liked cloth over leather (put cloth off parts car in #818) guess i should have asked if it was "born with cloth", the leather in #818 was ratty as hell and the foam and cloth in the the parts car was perfect (and beechwood), lucky me ;)
 
Got the front seat belt receivers in, dyed them with Sema Camel spray and installed them. Took a couple minutes each side to install after I got the right tool, Had to go to Autozone and get that huge star bit for the seat belt bolt. I think they look great, no more cracks and sure are alot easier to buckle without the cracks.

That looks so much better, I had to replace one of mine years ago and even back then (10 years ago) was hard to find some nice replacements (used) ... not getting any easier that is for sure.

Damn, now I have to look at my spare used set and possibly get a NOS set as well ... never ends does it :dirol:
