As part of a count-down to the 100th running of the Indy 500, AutoWeek [on-line] is running a series of "100 Headlines that shaped the greatest spectacle in racing". Today's headline story:
"Eddie Cheever piloted his green Quaker State/Menards car to the fastest lap ever completed in the Indy 500. His recorded speed was 236.103 mph"

(Yes - that car was powered by the turbocharged Buick V6 , and record still stands)
