What is the best oil & Filter for my TTA?

Might sound odd, but in the 3 years I have owned my TTA, it always had the oil changed in combo with some other work being done. Now I find myself in need of doing it myself for the first time. Any suggestions for oil/brand/weight and filter brand/part number?
Its a stock TTA, no mods, with 12,200 miles..... THANKS for any advice!:)

You will get a lot of advice where oil is concerned but i would stick with a dino oil , 10-30 ,whatever brand make's you happy, oil filter would be Napa #1086, oil additive Zdd plus is cheap peace of mind...
 
+ 20,000 on what Robert said...might find WIX 51086 easier and a little cheaper.

^^^ agree on the filters & ZDDP. I think that there is an in-depth post or thread with a bunch of filter data(?).
FWIW - When I got the GN, it seems like "everyone" highly recommended using full synthetic oil... so that's what I've been using in both cars.
Based on some other advice years ago, I've stayed with the factory specified 10W30, plus the ZDDP. Both cars are stock.

Yeah i think Wix make's filters for Napa but the last time i bought a Wix at O'REILLY'S it was $4 more than Napa brand... also you can buy Valvoline 10-30 racing oil ( more zinc) and use a half bottle of Zddp.
 
You can find Wix 51086 on eBay for around $14-15 shipped.

About $8 shipped for the zinc additive.

Shell motor oil at Lowes for $13 after tax with Veteran's discount.

Hey Joe, i thought you got a senior citizen discount....:wheelchair::rofl:
 
I won't even get in the big debate on which oil to use, but as far as the oil filter goes, I sure love the K&N with the nut on the end, just because of ease of use.
