Turbo Shield controversy?????!!

Anyone have any info on the effects of leaving the turbo shield off on a TTA?? I have a downpipe and a TA-49 turbo.. I found a leak un the turbo oil supply line, around the factory fitting. In order to test the leak, i want to leave the shield off but i'm worried about the hood. Does anyone know what will happen? Thanks

Just make sure you have the hood heat shield on....

I have a TA49 and a THDP and I drove the car without the shield and no problems..

Besides the shield gets just as hot and probably hold in more heat then having it off.
